Character Wear Rules

What are the character wear rules at your school ?

No clothing, no shoes, no lunch box ???
Is it just discouraged or a strict rule ??
What happens if the child does come to school with character wear ??

I like no characters........we currently have a strongly encouraged policy, but I would like to see it as a strict rule for the new year. Thinking of presenting this to the school.......any suggestions on really good reasons. I am definately going to include the reality vs fantasy theory for the 3-6 class.

I wish! Our directoress' son wears character shirts daily. I can't figure it out for the life of me. :

Our school dress code is no character clothing including shoes, no light up shoes, no tie shoes, button or snap or zip pants, no party dresses or shoes, no logos on clothing. But, they don't care about lunchboxes or backpacks. Our school is for 15 months thru age 6.

I don't think there's a character policy at DD's school. I don't see kids wearing any of that stuff often anyway. We're not anti-character. We don't buy it, but DD has a tinkerbell shirt that a friend's daughter picked out for her from their Disney trip. We have some Hello Kitty stuff, too. I'm a fan.

To answer the PP DD's school doesn't have uniforms, but every Friday is "Spirit Day" and they all wear their Montessori tees. It's really cute!

No such policy at my son's Montessori. I don't buy character clothing/merchandise for my son anyway. But to tell the truth one of the things I appreciate about his school is that it's pretty laid-back.

Our school has a no media or fantasy images policy for anything the kids bring to school.

It's one of the things that attracted me to the school.

Our school has a uniform and we had to buy DD a lunchbox from the school as well as a tote bag from the school. A few character items slip in once in a while but on the whole, this works out.

Except. DD refuses to wear a uniform and I don't make her. I think that putting uniforms on the younger kids is rediculous (DD is 2) and I wish the school didn't have uniforms. I have not talked to one parent who is in favor of them. They are expensive and the clothes are itchy.

No characters is what I remember reading. I don't really buy them, so I didn't pay close attention to the rule, so I don't remember if it is 'discouraged' or 'forbidden'. But I do know it applied to clothing and lunch boxes, etc.

Our school is 18mo - Middle school. No characters, light up shoes, belts, pants they can't do themselves once they are independent in the bathroom. Primary II and up has uniforms. We start uniforms next week. My daughter is so excited about being an afternooner (staying till 3) and getting to wear her uniforms.

At our school, there is no character rule. In ds1's classroom is was discouraged, but not banned (we prefer they don't wear...) In ds2's class last year, different teacher, the kids worse character stuff all the time.

we dont have those rules at ours. All they suggest is clothing that are easy to remove by the child.

Our school is age 3-middle school. It's no characters at all, no light up shoes and uniforms must be worn which is a Land's End collar shirt with the school monogram and shorts or pants like khakis.

There's not a rule at our school, but I would say it's discouraged. We're not too big on that stuff, but we do have a few things. I think for dress code all that was mentioned was that clothes be comfortable and easy to pull up and down pants for the bathroom. I like that it's very easy going there and it doesn't matter.
