How do I feel my uterus?

And what should it feel like?

Although I'm quite sure it's too early for me to feel anything, I'm still curious as to how one does this and what it should feel like.

Please bear in mind this is coming from the girl who took almost a year to find her cervix

Pardon my tmi, but the best time to look for it this early is right after an orgasm.

It should feel like a hard, round little ball just starting to poke out over your pubic bone. I think it's about the size of a grapefruit by now. I think it's easier to feel it early if this is your first pregnancy because it's softer if it's had some practice.

I THINK I can feel mine, but I'm not 100% sure. This is my fifth pregnancy and I'm eight and a half weeks along.

Not in your DDC, but if you lie down on the floor (bed doesn't work), and feel right above your pubic bone, you should feel a little ball there (works better with a full bladder). It could be off to the left or right side if your bladder is full though. Experiment, as everyone's different. You can start to feel it around 8 weeks (depending on the amount of fat on your belly). Good luck!

Would I be able to feel mine even if it's a bit retroverted? I assume that'd mean I'd have a harder time feeling it.

Usually you can't feel your uterus until you are at least 12 weeks. That is when it makes it's appearance above the top of your pubic bone. The doctor/midwife usually feels it by performing something called a bimanual exam, in which they push it up a little by pressing on your cervix. This is impossible to do on yourself.

Even at 12 weeks last pregnancy, I had difficulty feeling it. it wasn't obvious until a little beyond that. If you have a retroverted uterus, expect it to take longer to feel it -- like by 13-15 weeks. A retroverted uterus doesn't come forward until about then.

I'm with NOS; when you're pregnant at all (and I'm talking 4-5 weeks here) it's really easy to know exactly where your uterus is during/immediately following an orgasm. This makes a ton of sense, when you consider that orgams generally cause your uterus to contract a bit. So even if you can't feel it outside of your body at that point (and it's damn near impossible) you'll know 'where to look', so to speak. It'll give you an idea of where your uterus is sitting and whether or not it'll be possible for you to palpate it with your hand/s at this point. If your uterus is tilted to the right or left, you'll know it after an orgasm; if it's tilted back, you'll know that too and that it'll probably be more difficult to find with your fingertips.

I'm a very fat mama, but I can find mine more easily than most thanks to my c-section scar; it pulls a bit just behind there (I'm... 8 weeks? Not sure, I really ought to pay attention... ).

Oh boo - orgasms make me spot - so no more for me for a bit

But, I did check my cervix today, and it is definitely moving on up - so maybe it won't be long before it's high enough for me to feel.

yep....you should be able to feel it just behind your pubic bone. it should be firm and maybe even hard. i could feel mine starting at 6 wks.

So perhaps another silly question, but humor me (please) :

My cervix rises along with my uterus, right? I've been doing checks on it, just for reassurance, and this morning, it was almost untouchable - so that should mean my uterus is moving on up, right?

I have lots of padding between the outside of me and the inside of me, so it might take me longer to find where my uterus is hiding, but I have lots of practice at spelunking!

My cervix doesn't really get higher during pregnancy; at least, not that i can tell. It's very high anyway, so eventually i'll probably get to the point where my arms aren't long enough to reach my cervix around the giant belly.
