A little background:
My 7 yr old daughter is in Brownies. I am one of the co-leaders of her troop. The troop leader's DH is a firefighter. There was a parade today for the 4th and the I was to be Mrs. Claus (the fire department does the Christmas float) so the leader said I would do it (yay! no walking!!!) and I could even bring the baby, which is good because I wouldn't have done it otherwise (he's 9 months)
ANYWAY... He of course gets fussy just before the parade starts. He wasn't hungry but he was making those "gimme a boob" noises, which Santa even recognized as such LOL. We're in line and there are people on both sides but not throngs or anything- mostly people that live on the parade route. But I NIP right there in my Mrs. Claus chair, dressed as Mrs. Claus on the float. It was... something LOL
The Mr Claus (a firefighter) said "hey, we're a progressive float" LMAO
There were three other women too (firefighters I think? I don't know) One of them was Claus' real wife- nursed all three kids till after two- did it EVERYWHERE she said. One other woman said "oh no, now we're gonna get sued" kidding- I think and the last was supportive but I don't remember anything specific- mostly "you gotta do what you gotta do" type of thing.
I thought it was awesome though. I must say that I'm glad it happened before we were traveling down main street with hundreds of people looking on. I'm all for NIP but I think that would be a little too much for me.
I just had to share :-) I'm not sure if this is actual lactivism but I do believe I was supporting the cause!!
