I'm almost surely going to miss dd's first fireworks

Our town cancelled the fireworks display tonight because of thunderstorms and a tornado watch. They are rescheduled for Friday the 6th. Fridays her dad has her so I won't be able to take her to the show

I plan to call tomorrow and ask him if he's planning on taking her and if not, I'd like to. I'd be more than willing to give him his choice of make up days but I have a feeling he'll say he wants her. I'm actually really hoping he either agrees to let me take dd or say that he is not taking her to them since dd has some sensory issues and I'm not entirely sure how she'll react to the loud noises. I'm scared he'll force her to stay even if she's terrified (he's like that in some ways). She's still my little baby :

I am also a little sad because I haven't missed any of her "firsts" yet. But I do realize that her dad may want to share some of these with her, too. It's tough for us all, I guess.

The stupid weather really messed me up tonight :

Doesn't it break your heart when some of those special events belong to someone else? I hope she has fun, whoever she's with.

Most likely your dd is not going to enjoy the fireworks. She will probably be afraid and want to leave. I would make sure that your ex knows that it is not ok to make her stay if she is afraid. I imagine that if she is crying he will leave, if for no other reason than to not disturb the rest of the people watching the fireworks.

tell him not to get too close. agree on a place where it's a 1/2 mile away from the main area. My babies saw them at a mile away at 8 months and 10 months and were fine. tell him that dd got scared watching some in the neighborhood because of the boom and that she was inconsolable and only you could make it right, and that he will have a hard time without you. Gosh, I sure hope he doesn't 'teach her a lesson.' and try to just make her get over it. ugh!! Can you go to? Maybe you could crash it?
