anoyone's baby not dropped yet? (38wks)

Please tell me I'm not the only one. Though I have read in subsequent pregnancies some babies don't drop until right before/at labor. I just don't have that "baby between the knees" feeling like I did with ds. With him it was for weeks. Every once in a while I'll have that feeling, but then the baby must move up a little. At my Tues appt my mw said baby's head was engaged, but not that low. She didn't give me a station number. And that my cervix is a soft 3-4cm, but not really effacing yet. With ds I was already about 50-70% by now. I think because he was that low and putting pressure on my cervix. Anyhow, she wants me to start using that epo in my vagina to help soften the cervix, but I'm unsure about that. But I am trying to squat more, walk, drink rrl, etc to help baby move down. My hips feel real lose which she said was the hormones helping to make room for baby, so I thought baby would drop more. Now I feel like if I take a wrong step or get up wrong my legs will fall off

I'll be 39 weeks tomorrow. If he's dropped he hasn't dropped significantly I don't think. My midwife did also say some of them wait til pretty close to the end to drop.

You were right when you said that babies usually only drop in first time moms. In most subsequent pg, the baby doesn't drop until labor/delivery. Trust me... in 15 mins. from now, you could be in labor. You never know (especially in multiparas). Good luck!

I don't think I've "dropped" yet, but I'm only 37 weeks tomorrow. I've read too that subsequent babies don't get down there as early as first ones. I wouldn't worry about it - sounds like your body is preparing in many other ways, and it'll all go smoothly when the time comes.

I am 39 weeks + 1 day and I don't think my babe has dropped. He's lower than he was, because I am less short of breath, but last week he was floating still according to my MW. I have another appt. tomorrow but I don't think he's dropped. But with my first he didn't drop till labor and that's unusual for first time moms, so maybe this babe will be the same?

I'm a member of the no dropping club. I wish he'd descend just a little bit, though - my ribs are KILLING ME.

wasn't in your DDC .. but guess i am now kinda :P .. i'm ..5-13 days OD depending on EDD you listen to.... anyway.. still not dropped.. infact baby is so high when i was checked on monday doc could hardly reach the cervix :-O
This is my5th baby (8th preg) Although i must add.. i've NEVER dropped more than about 25-30 minutes before delivery. Last one went from "way up high" and 4cm to out in 5 minutes...lol .. doc was out of the room scrubbing to do my c-section...lol

I'm 37 weeks and haven't dropped and baby's head is not engaged either.

Honestly I never dropped with ds either (my 1st) and I went to just before my due date with him before I got induced (and by some miracle it was a successful induction even though I think my Bishop's score was prob only like a 2 or 3 : ).

Like the pp's I've heard that in 2nd+ pregnancies it might not happen until labor.

I'm 40 weeks and 4 days and no dropping yet (this is my 1st). Add me to the "my ribs are killing me and I can't think about eating" club!

I'm due in 2 days, and I haven't fully dropped, and this is my first baby. When I went on Tuesday for my appt, my midwife said I'm not dilated at all, my cervix is still posterior? (I think that's what she said, meaning way up there). She said she can feel his head a bit more than before, but I am definitely not dropped. She said things can progress quickly, she didn't seem to be concerned.

: It's not an indicator in 2nd+ time moms.

Guess I'm just recalling that dropped feeling and associating it with birth? At least this baby dropped a tad since I can breath a little easier, but I am not hungry at all. Also I didn't think baby's could move around much, but the past few days this one has been doing acrobats in there. Maybe trying to get into a good spot or frustrated at the lack of room.

I'm still here, and Baby Boy hasn't even put his head into the birth canal yet. He's baby #3 for me. At my OB apt this morning she said "if he's coming soon, he's got a ways to travel..."

With this baby, she didn't drop at all or engage until I was fully dilated. Totally different from my previous two.

I am 37.5 weeks, this is my first, and baby has not dropped. In fact, I've been feeling more pressure on my ribs lately - I think she's grown quite a bit in the last couple of weeks. I am a little disappointed because I think that she won't be coming until at least 40 weeks. Just a feeling...
