Serious PMS advice

I have huge problem with PMS. I don't get cranky, I get well, psychotic. It is really creating a huge problem in my life. I am so mean to my poor family, and well everyone. The thing is I just can't stop myself. I plan on discussing it with the CNM I see for paps when I go in soon. They tend to be very medically minded, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a more homeopathic solution. Thanks.

Studies have shown that a Calcium supplement might help....you can go a google search and find many articles about it.
Treating PMS can sometimes be difficult - everyone is different, and various modalities work for some and not for others.
Before you seek help, try charting your symptoms day by day to pinpoint the root of the problem.

Maridith222 s I've had a rough couple of days of PMS lately, too. I seem to carry a lot more stress with me during those days. I get obsessive with cleaning and other responsibilities. When it's not just "perfect".... I get really upset.

If you have access to a Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner (acupuncture and herbs) I highly recommend that form of treatment. I suffered from PMS for many years--I would be hypoglycemic right before AF and would have sudden moods so strong I often freaked out. I was on the pill for a while years back and when I went off it my hormones were in chaos and I was an emotional wreck. A friend suggested an acupuncture clinic and within a month of treatments I felt like a new person--so vital and centered!

Good luck to you!

If you take calcium, make sure it has magnesium in it, as well. You need the balance of both.

Also try progesterone cream! (available OTC at a health food store.)

Also, check this book out, it changed my life...I paid special attention to the part about treating symptoms with a change of diet. It made such a huge difference, that in ONE cycle I was like a new person.

In case that link doesn't work, the book is called "Unmasking PMS, the complete medical treatment plan" by Joseph Mortorano, MD and Maureen Morgan, CSW, RN, with William Fryer.

I actually found many of the "fixes" to be not so medcalized, and more really looking at the CAUSE of the symptoms.

Fellow PMDD sufferer here as well. For the first time in 3 months, I haven't had a desire to kill myself 3 days before Aunt Flo visits.

I found that a combination of using OTC progesterone cream, essential fatty acids supplementation, vitex and calcium supplements are crucial to my well-being. If I miss any of these, I go off the deep end.

Good luck to you.

I had a friend mention cutting soy made a huge difference for her...and I know that if I have dairy, my PMS goes ape$%*&

It might be worth keeping a food diary to see if you are reacting to certain foods as well....although when I'm raging, the last thing I want to do is take notes about how I feel and what I ate
