by Amy Karol - what a great book! I made bibs and smock tops today - 4 bibs, 3 smock tops - addictive and so cute! (pictures on my blog) Just wanted to give it a big thumb's up review in case anyone was thinking about checking it out. I'm a total newbie sewer and I think I got pretty good results - despite myself

Thanks for the review--I've been thinking about getting it. And I think I will after seeing your super cute reversible bibs!!

Just the title appeals to me, I am for sure a "bend the rules" sewer! :

I really like her blog. It's really fun and cool.

I like her blog, too, but I'm not a huge fan of the book. Most of the projects just didn't seem that interesting to me - I find more inspiration just looking at blogs and Flickr. For people who aren't constantly out and about looking for project ideas, it might be helpful...

I thought the book was nice, but not "buy" worthy, kwim. I agree with the advent of all the cool craft blogs and craftsters a book has to super special for me to buy it. I'm devoted to the library too.

that's me - not enough time in the day. I try, but I can't keep up. I thought the book was very easy to follow and the ideas were simple and easy to embellish upon. As a newbie sewer, I really liked it.

I just got the book from the library this week (after being on hold for it for months!!!) - I think it is worth buying. This week I have made 4 of the zipper wallets, a bunch of cloth napkins, and want to make that cute elf hat!

I don't usually use books for real patterns, but for inspiration and ideas. I like her fabric choices, and the combination of some vintage and new to make something new. It got me going at least to sew some stuff with all this fabric I have!
