I have to tell you the best part of my birth. Of course Jaccob being healthy and also me, but besides that part....
I can not tell you how empowering it is that I let him pick everything. He chose when to go from breech to vertex. I did do the Webster, but if he wasn't already planning on turning, then it would have never worked.
He picked when to come. This is a major thing for me. Having only been induced before, I always had the *what ifs* in my mind. Would I have gone over my "edd"? Would they have come early anyway? What does real labor feel like? How exciting must it be to actually get to go into labor all by yourself. Do you really just "have a feeling" that you are having the baby like people say? All of this has been going through my mind for years.
My ctx slowed down to every 5 minutes when I went to lay down with my dh. The mws wanted me to do some things to help encourage labor to pick back up. I chose to go lay down with my dh while they all ate. It was like I needed that time to be by myself and then with just dh and I. When I got up to pee from that, he was born 14 minutes later. My ctx never got into a *regular* pattern. They didn't get longer, stronger, closer together. (I know that doesn't help first time moms that are reading.. I had been counting on that from reading birth stories so that I would know when it was time, just another variation of normal)
After I had him, I could not believe that I actually did it!
I still can't believe that I actually did it all without any help, or Pitocin, or breaking my water, or stretching me, or VEs except the one, or an IV, or constant monitoring, or anything else that I had before.
I AM WOMAN HEAR ME ROAR!!
