I think the thermostat must be broken...

Because according to that, it's room temperature in here, but I sure am...ahem...perspiring.

It always kind of amuses me when I exhibit some kind of pregnant woman stereotype, like wasting energy by having the AC cranked enough to raise penguins in my house. I ordinarily keep my thermostat at 78. That is so NOT happening this summer!

I don't know how pregnant mamas without air conditioning do it!

My thoughts exactly!

Oh my gosh, it's been in the 80s to 100s here. Last year I was enjoying it! This year I am miserable! And my van's AC konked out but I don't want to waste money on it since we want to buy another vehicle this fall and with everything wrong with this van, it won't be something we will see a ROI for.

So this week I have been hiding in the AC as much as possible. I just don't want to go ANYWHERE! It seems every time I do, I end up in a hot, slow line, and I can feel my feet/ankles swelling! Yuck!

I am sweating at night too - ew!

NH is still nice and comfy at 80 F today. I like it hot, just cannot stand the humidity. So far it's been pleasant. Don't have AC but a huge kiddie pool waiting for me once it hits 90.

It's in the 90s and really humid here today and supposed to be all weekend. We only have a window a/c in the living room.

I try really hard not to use the oven on days like this if I don't have to. But today, I have to, b/c I HAVE to have some homemade granola.

Oh man, our A/C was broken for about a week a few weeks ago.

I...was...DYING. Seriously, I would spray myself with the spray bottle and sit in front of the floor fan all day long . Since it's been working, I found the coolest spot in our house and I lay there for a portion of every day. My DH is scared of our upcoming bill : .

Going outside is unbearable (unless swimming, and sometimes even then too) until around 6pm here.

I get INCREDIBLY hot at night and DH tries to be all sweet by covering me up. No no no!! Fortunately, he works at home during the day and his office gets a little extra heated due to position fromt he sun and computer equitment so our house is downright chilly.

When I got back fromt aking DH to the airport thismorning, not quite 8am, I thought "Geez, I gotta get out of this heat quick!"

(expected highs around 115 today)

Well, right after I wrote the original post, my dad came over for lunch, and told me he was buying us a membership the swim club in town. :

I was very excited. DD will be VERY excited! I think my MDC post count may suffer, though. I have a friend with a swim club membership, and she had DD and I as guests one very hot day. It was just divine to be in water up to my neck, feeling cool and weightless, two things I certainly don't feel like on land!

Our AC is usually set to 80. It's central air, but 26 years old, so we can't afford it if it's set any lower!

But, today, I turned it down to 78. I'm just tooooooo hoooooooot. Thank goodness we have a window unit in our bedroom, or I'd never sleep. (Old house, "central" AC doesn't really do anything upstairs. My poor kids.)

EXCELLENT

out "local pool" = 20 miles -- is only 3 bucks a day for me and DS to go --- but i hate to go alone, so we only go when DH can come with us. chaseing a tot at the pool with no adult to talk to is too loney and too hard for me otherwiese we'd go all the time. it is great pool, 0 entry on one full side, spriklers and alot of stuff for the l;ittle kiddies......

HAVE FUN

I'm thinking at that point, I'd be getting a little window unit just for the bedroom. I really wouldn't be able to sleep.

Thanks!

Well, our local pool is right around the corner, so we can walk, but they don't do by-the-day...you have to buy a membership, and it was too spendy for me to want to do it. Heck, I have duct tape holding my kitchen counter together at the moment...a pool membership was out of the question. I mentioned to both my parents that I was going to ask for money for xmas so that I could buy a membership NEXT year, and was hoping to get enough that I could scrape together the remaining funds by the summer. This was wholly unexpected!

That's awesome, Chrysta! I'm a tad jealous. How wonderful it would be to be nice and cool and WEIGHTLESS! Enjoy it!

I hear you!! Our A/C can't cool down further than 85 on a day like today in the afternoon. All the shutters are down and we hang under a vent, so it is okay, but I HATE it. i can't wait to move, this is not the right climate for me....

I live right by you, so I feel your pain!

Its not that hot here, but its soooo MUGGY. Today was miserably humid. I'm not a spoiled northerner--I lived in TX for a few years when I was in Americorps and did fine there because it was DRY heat. The humidity is the worst. We do have AC, and DH is getting so annoyed with me because I am totally wasting energy by having it on all the time. I'm also showing a real lack of judgement--DH caught me contemplating keeping the AC on for the cat when we had to go out and run errands because I was afraid she'd be too hot! He thinks I've totally lost it, especially as we have a finished basement that stays nice and cool where she could hang out...

I do keep thinking though... at least we're not having our babies in this heat! My three always came home in a heat wave.

Good point, because as much as it sucks to be pregnant in the heat, trying to get a newborn to latch and nursing 24/7 would also pretty much suck in the heat.

No doubt! At first I was not so happy about Titus being born in the cold (yes, it does get cold, even frosted last winter!) But realized I'd much rather have to worry about hats and shoes and blankets than finding the shadiest possible place to park then the seat buckles being burning hot.... as in hot enough to leave a blister! And getting the A/C going and feeling so exhausted just from a treck across the parking lot that I can't lift the babe.

November is good.
