With my DS, I was the only person I knew who BF so I was the constant lactivist. Now I am in the opposite situation - I am surrounded by nursing moms! In my office building (200 people, less than 50% women) there are 6 of us pumping and giving exculsively BM! Including the girl who had twin boys (over 8 lbs each at birth - completely natural birth). We are having trouble scheduling the pumping rooms (we are lucky enough that our employer set up two rooms
). The girl across the street from me is doing the same as well.
One of my employees is due in November and planning a natural birth with a midwife. She was recommending exclusive BF to ME
! I told her that I nursed my DS until he was almost 2, and only weaned then because of an emergency medical condition. My secretary and another co-worker BF until well into toddlerhood with all of their children.
So who am I supposed to be a lactivist for?
