How often do you wash your kids bath toys? - Page 2

our bath toys get several long soaks in the tub every week.

We washed our bath toys once week, on Sundays, which was our "shower day"

I always found that dirt would accumulate in the crevices, and being the neat freak had to wash them to get them clean.

Now every day is a "shower day" and the only time my girls take a bath is when they arent' feeling well and, alas, they are too old for toys.

If they fall by the toilet then I wash them, otherwise never.

Umm....never We don't buy many though. When they go that really mouldy way, we recycle them!

Ohmigod! Ours too!

I don't wash ours unless they feel icky. For ex. I have a little fishy cup thingymabob that needs a scrub bc it's got some buildup on it. Other than that, I just threw all the ducks out bc the water WILL NOT squeeze out and it's starting to smell nasty so they're gone. Do they sell hole-free ducks?

bath toys? they're supposed to have bath toys?

actually, yes they do sell hole-free ducks. we have two.

i'm another one that thinks the nice soaking they get in the tub is enough.

ooo really? Do you know where you got them from? DS#2 really likes the ducks and DS#1 was quite upset that I was throwing them out.

i think they're by "the first years". check this guy out -- http://www.learningcurve.com/product/detail/Y2029B . i think we got ours as gifts, maybe one locally from the mall. they shouldn't be too hard to find, theoretically speaking of course...

I always figured that they got clean by their very nature. We squeeze/dump them out after each bath and keep them in a mesh net, so they seem to get fairly dry. I haven't noticed any mildew, at least. It may help that the bathroom window gets the full morning sun and it shines directly onto the tub wall where the net is.

I honestly don't think I would wash them unless I noticed an obvious mold/mildew/odor problem. Additional washing (in a tub of water/the dishwasher/the laundry) would be a waste of clean water, energy, soap and space to wash other things, imo.

I totally want a hole-less duck though.

Never.

Never even considered it.

My son likes to play with cups and empty shampoo bottles. So we really don't have toys to wash .. I guess every once in a while I'll put the cups in the dishwasher, but not often.
I toss them into the dishwasher every once in a while. Either when I notice that mold is starting to grow or if I'm looking around for things to top up the dishwasher load so I can run it.

It ends up being about once a month I think.

I've never washed them . . . they're in the bath, why would I?

I don't wash any of the other toys either, unless they get sticky or something. I don't really think about germs and stuff.
never. Though if the boat fills with soap or whatever, it gets a quick rinse.

It's very humid where we live, and we fight mildew and mold in our bathroom. I have to immerse the bath toys in bleach solution every couple of months or they get realllllly gross. I've tried the dishwasher and it's not enough.
