x leaves Monday for deployment

It's here - we've known since December that he would be leaving. We told the kids a week ago that dad is going to do Army in Colorado first and then to Kentucky. We are not telling them about Iraq until he knows for sure when he's leaving. He should be stateside until November.

"When will dad be back?" ask a ds and dd - 7 and 5 years old.

"We don't know." - because this is the truth -

They have been with him and sm for the last two weeks. It's a crazy and awful time.

I'll go over to his house on Monday am to be with our dc when they say goodbye to their dad.

I hope the goodbyes go as well as can be expected and your x's deployment is swift and safe.

We are currently three months into our deployment...btdt. I'll be thinking about you and your children.

Good luck, deployments are hard. How are the kids taking it?
Was there any resolution to the changing schools thing?

Thanks for the well wishes... I'm not sure what to expect.

The school situation - that whole post got way off track, so I never gave an update. The kids are staying put. They are going to their neighborhood school. It's a great school and they love it.
