good things to make when cooking makes you want to puke? - Page 2

One of the things that saves me on a regular basis is the pre-cooked perdue chicken, I can get a three pack at BJ's for just $10 and itcan be used in so many different ways. My current favorite quick meal for all of us is to cook up some extra wide egg noodles and a bunch of frozen broccoli (all in the same pot - they cook for the same amount of time), chop up some of the chicken, drain the noodles and mix everything together with a bit of oil, lemon juice, salt, pepper and garlic. The whole thing takes less that 10 minutes to prepare and isn't all that unhealthy.

it's ironic that right before i got pregnant i went shopping for all the staples so i could make even more of our food at home (tortillas, crackers etc.) and now i can't even look at the bag of flax seeds without gagging.
you sound like me! I was making our bread and pizza crust and such at home. Now I have frozen pizza sitting in my freezer...and whole wheat bread from Sam's club on my counter...

I am so glad people understand

veggie burgers! I'll have to pick some up. That's a great idea and lots of protein.

I get a lot of premade stuff from Trader Joe's for dh and ds (sprouted spaghetii, sauce, frozen meatballs, frozen enchiladas, pesto pizza, natural hot dogs, chili, boxed soup). I got some Larabars and sushi from Costco today too. I also treated myself to some allergen-free chocolate cookies formthe HFS

I mostly eat snacky things, salad with lots of dressing, and fruit.

If it makes you feel better, I have been snacking on salt and vinagar kettle chips today and it seems to help me I am usually a nutrition fanatic, but that will start again 3 weeks form now......

We've gotten a bit more takeout than usual (hurts the budget but we talked it through and it seemed like a worthwhile tradeoff for a short time) and we get different things for takeout. dh gets whatever repulsive thing he wants and I usually get soup of some type. I am really digging homemade soups so I have cooked some soups too. I have dh help me a lot more in the kitchen b/c I cannot tolerate some smells. Greasy things, onions, peppers, etc make me want to hurl. And meat of course. We've been having more mild things too like huevos rancheros, I love corn tortillas and black beans/eggs. Lots of cold meals because those don't stink. Sandwiches and salads. COld pasta salads.
