I am kinda embarassed to even ask this. I know I need to wash prefolds 6 times before using them. Do I need to dry them after each wash? Or can I just do 6 wash loads in a row and dry them once? Will thsi affect the quilting up?

Thanks! And don't tell anyone I asked this!

They will quilt up much better if you dry them after each wash.

Not a dumb question at all!

And you have lots of time left so you could wash and dry and wait a few weeks and do it again and again. I hope you come to love them! hehehehe

Definetly not a dumb question-I honestly found it took more than 6 washes though thats all I did before my initial use. I found too that drying them on higher heat helped.

aargh- I am totally hooked on diapers. I just registered at diaperswappers.com and have been lurking on the trading post. And ebay. Looking for covers... then I will have another whole set of questions! haha! I can't wait to start using these diapers on this babe.... disposables could never be this fun!!!

this is not a dumb question at all! i need to get started on this as well.

where is everyone's favourite place to buy pfs? i am leaning toward ipfs just based one what i've read, but i'm open to cpfs.

I also want to know where to buy the CPF's and if there are other prefolds just as good anywhere else.

I was wondering about this too (if drying is included in washing times). And I so relate about visiting all the diaper sites. I haven't been posting here because I'm driving myself crazy looking for the perfect diapers and covers. Urgh! I don't think such a thing exists!

I just got my stash started from http://www.diaperware.com. She had good reviews on MDC and she had a pretty comprehensive newborn diapering guide, describing the different types of dipes and a recommended list of supplies to have on hand.

Since this is the first time I'm trying this, I bought a bunch of varieties to experiment with once the baby gets here. (Slightly OT: does anybody else think it's tough to shop for a person whose size is a total mystery and won't really be known until he/she gets here?!? ) She's also fairly local to me, so I like not having to wait very long for a shipment.

As far as washing the prefolds, I started over the weekend, but had to stop because I felt guilty using unnecessary electricity these past few days due to the heat. I'll start back up again later on in the week. My plan is to wash 3 double-wash sets (wash cycle with detergent, wash cycle w/o detergent, dry). After only one set so far, I'm starting to see some quilting already.
