CPM Preceptor Question

If a CPM is on inactive status, can she still sign off on skills as a preceptor or be a preceptor?

I don't think so - I think she has to be active at the time of the date of service. You should contact NARM just to be sure. well, now that I think of it, does the mw have to be a CPM at all? I'm just not sure - can't remember. Isn't there something on their website?

I don't think the mw has to be a CPM. On the NARM site it says the midwife needs to be a CPM OR a midwife who is legaly recognized by her state/area OR a midwife with a minimum of 3 years and 50 out of hospital births as primary midwife without supervision.

So, if I am reading that correctly then a preceptor does not need to be a CPM as long as she has the correct experience.

The way I understand it, an inactive CPM would be judged based on the other criteria -- 50 births and a 3+ year practice.
