What Is It??????

Yes the all caps are necessary!

We are missing something that DS is allergic too. I don't know if its environmental or food. We are already so limited in what we can eat, I don't want to do a fully elimination diet. I'm sure DS would be fine on it, but I know I can't live on turkey, pears, rice, and a green for two or three weeks.

His arms have welts that look like patches of eczema, the creases of his arms are red, and his stomach and back are all rough with eczema.

I don't know what we're missing. I HATE this. We go to the allegist in a week so hopefully he'll re-test and the insurance will pay for it. :

I can sympathize with you. I've been avoiding egg/dairy/peanut/treenut and dd still has rough eczema patches on legs/face/arms/back/abdomen and very itchy.

I'm thinking it might be our mattress/bedding and am looking into different options.

I'm so sorry for what you are going through. It is so difficult to figure out a child's eczema. There are just so many factors involved. When we were trying to figure my dd's eczema, I did experiments with EVERYTHING, including different foods, soaps, oils, latex vs. silicon pacifiers, etc. Here is a website I came across about a little boy allergic to detergent. http://www.solveeczema.org/

Thought you might want to take a look and see if any of it rings true for you.

My dd's problems turned out to be a combo of food allergies, not enough fatty acids and a need for probiotics.

Good luck!!!

I'm right there with you. We've spent over $1K on medical things (both conventional and alternatives) and so far still don't know what is missing. I tried the detergent thing on the solveeczema website (she has a test you can use to see if detergent is likely the cause) and it isn't for us. We are finishing up the last set of alternative testing this week and are waiting for results from a comprehensive stool sample, but if it doesn't help, we can't afford to try anything else for a while :

I noticed that you are in Michigan. Have you guys been swimming in the lakes? My mom's family is from the pinky tip of the mitten and we would go there for the summers. One year my sis and I came down with this terrible rash and it was from the lake water. It was horrible. Terribly itchy, blotchy red welts nothing made it feel better. After that happened, we didn't go in the water again. ack, nak just a thought, trying to help figure out your mystery.

There is this book that I read called "Is this your child?" by Dr. Doris Rapp that I wish I had had when my dd was an infant. We followed her multiple food elimination diet (which allows for more than just turkey, pears, greens and rice - I did try this diet and lasted about 24 hours before I felt so weak and dizzy that I had to eat something else!). On the MFED we discovered several foods that my dd(4) and ds(2) were sensitive to.

Hope it helps!
