Good books for intellectual kids who are slow readers?

Both my kids have dyslexic issues. Both try to read books too advanced for their reading level because the topics interest them. Any suggestions? They are 9 & 10. 9yo interested in animals, pagan gods. 10yo interested in science, fantasy.

Can you name some books that have been successful/enjoyable reads for them?

Are they past chapter book series like THE MAGIC TREE HOUSE and NATE THE GREAT? They might be very easy, but enjoyable reads for your two boys. Also, check out ANDREW LOST and THE A-Z MYSTERIES.

MY FATHER'S DRAGON is a great, easy reading middle grade book. ENCYCLOPEDIA BROWN, THE BLACK STALLION are both series that are not too difficult...

Have you had any luck with the DK Eyewitness Books?

They have a *lot* of info, but it is presented in very short sections (generally several on a page) so it is easier the parts you want to read *right then.* Also, I at least, don't feel bad about skipping around in this kind of book.

Get some books on tape/CD for them to listen to.

Just subbing to this one. I have a deep-thinking early reader who's bored with books she can read. I read to her all the time and she has a collection of audiobooks, but we'd both love to find more she can read to herself.

I was going to say these, too.

If you know any WAHMs who sell Usborne books, there are a number of those that are in a similar format and would be good that way, too (and you get to support a WAHM ).
