Speculation on Hogwart's Teachers (Contains Half Blood Prince Spoilers) - Page 2

Well..if Harry isn't going back to Hogwarts the new DADA teacher might still be a minor character.

There are several characters that have been mentioned that haven't shown up in the books yet...or have shown up but very little.

Hi, Anoyingreader! It's great to meet you.

Good luck at Hogwarts this September!

Oh yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaahhhh.....forgot about that. Well then it makes sense. Moody can teach 'cause he technically hasn't yet, and when Voldemort bites it the curse will be broken, so if he wants to stay he can.

Maybe Snape will finally get it.......before he gets killed defending Harry from Voldemort. :

But Snape already taught DADA in Harry's 6th year. And there's no way he can possibly continue teaching at Hogwarts now!

Gah! Do I need to re-read HBP again?

Yes.

Jo said here that there will be a new DADA teacher, and said on her website that it won't be Lupin.

I would guess that it will be either Moody or Tonks. Tonks is an auror after all, and I'm thinking that while Moody *could* do it in terms of the curse, he's more likely to have serious Order business to attend to than Tonks is, more experience, stronger at it, etc.

Didn't moody say at the end of Goblet of Fire that he'd had enough teaching for a lifetime?

I am wondering if the centre of activity will even be at Hogwarts. Won't the school close? I thought Harry had to go look for the Horcruxes.

Ooooh I love the idea of Tonks as Professor. Actually I think I could see her taking over for McGonagall. She has her special ability (not even attempting the spelling of it ). I think Hogwarts will be open because it would be what Dumbledore would have wanted.

I also think I remember somewhere where JKR said we'd learn about whether the professors were married or about there personal lives....that would definitely be an interesting change of events...a spouse of one of the professors taking over a teaching position...nah...I like the tonks idea better!

He says he's not going back, but the teachers never decide whether or not the school will remain open. They say they have to talk to the governors about it. I think it'll remain open and Hermione and Ginny will make full use of the library.

And Tonks as Transfiguration teacher would make a lot of sense, not just because she's a metamorphmagus (yes, that's the proper spelling), but because to be an Auror you have to pass N.E.W.T. level Transfiguration, meaning she's probably pretty darn good at it.

I agree. I say, Tonks teaches Transfiguration, Moody teaches DADA, Hagrid is head of Gryffindor.

I'm almost postive Hagrid will be head of Griffindor. At the end of Book 6, when McGonnagal calls in all the heads of houses for that big meeting, she invited Hagrid along.

The new DADA and Transfiguration teachers will either be members of the Order, minor characters, or both (ie, either one's a minor character and the other is in the Order, or possibly one or both are an Order member who's also a minor character.) I don't think it will be Shacklebolt because he's probably still working for the Muggle Prime Minister.

: For the same reason, I think Slughorn is going to stay as Potions Master and will be the head of Slytherin now that Snape is gone.

I LOVE the idea of Tonks as Transfiguration teacher!
