C'mon Admit It...You Know You're Thinking about Baby Names

So who has names picked out? Has a list they are working from? Completely overwhelmed by the prospect? I LOVE names, but picking them out is always so stressful. Over time and 4 kids later, I have all kinds of rules. My girl name has to end in "a," I would prefer to have a name that has a nickname (although not absolutely essential) and I would prefer a name that begins with a letter not already used by my other children (no "J", "I", "B", "S" or "L" names). Not sure where that leaves us this time, but I am already thinking. What about you?

We've been talking about it too, but haven't come up with much yet. I don't necessarily have a lot of rules, but my husband tends to veto every other name I think of because of some past negative association. It drives me crazy! "Oh we can't use that name because I knew a girl named that in the second grade who peed her pants"

Not really....cause we already have them all picked out!

IF this is one (which two is a chance for me) it will be Ayla Rose or Reid Alexander. If there are twins, they will be Ayla Rose/Maya Paige, Ayla Rose, Chase Orion/ or Reid Alexander/Chase Orion.

Sad, aren't we?

We have decided if it is a girl then it will be Anne Elizabeth after my husbands great grandmother. We haven't really talked about boys names. I kind of want to wait on finding out the sex of this one. We've always found out before so I think it would be kind of neat to wait. Hopefully it won't take forever to pick a boys name. It always takes us a while to agree. But I guess we have a long ways to go!!

I have always found out baby's gender ahead of time as well, but would like to not know this time. The wait should be interesting, but I know that it will be over before we know it!

We always have names picked out before the baby is even conceived! We also keep them a secret from everyone to avoid comments. Our girl name is left over from DS since he was a surprise, and the boy name is a new one. The area we have trouble with this time is middle names, since DS got my last name for his middle name. We could give #2 my last name as the middle name again, but since it might be our last baby I'd like to use a name from DH's side of the family (DS is named after my grandfather). We follow Jewish naming tradition, and only use family names of deceased family members.

You would love my dd's name then. Kyja the j is silent. and we call her Ky for sort.

I also have rules for names They can't be in the top 1000 for any year on the SS web site. I hated being one out of 7 Jennifers in my classes. So I'll never name my child anything that is popular for any year

We have kinda picked out names already. The one I really liked for a girl turned out to be a guys name... but So what right? Elliot,Tony,Terry, and Joe (Jo) are all boy names and girls are named them also. We can also alter the spelling although the folks here in the good o'usofa are going to have a fun time pronouncing Bjorn no matter how it's spelled. But I like the silent j

And Kyja and Bjorn are both Scandinavian

We had six names picked out (with middle names) before we were even married. We are certain on our boy name and mostly certain on the girl (first name is certain, middle name is pretty sure but still discussing it).

We kept the names secret last time to avoid discussion (we thought the girl name would get comments), but since we've had our first girl, and we're quite confident about our next set of names, we'll tell people. We decided dd would be a surprise (gender) and loved it, so this baby will be too.

We have discussed twin names but haven't picked any out for certain. We won't go down that path unless we see twins in there at the 20w u/s, but it's a possibility since they run in my family (my maternal grandmother was a fraternal twin).

Also, no name is set in stone. Even though we've chosen, we've also agreed that if we feel differently after the baby is born, we'll discuss it. Sort of a need to make sure the name fits the baby/feels right thing.

Latvian names

I am Latvian, so I would like to have a name that is Latvian. My husband suggested SHIRLEY (his gmas name). But I like:
Klara
Cecilija

Jarek
Eduards
Oskars
Arturs
Peter
Viktors

I am going to keep looking though...

My dh does this too. Drives me nuts! He is against my absolute favorite girls name right now b/c his old roommate's girlfriend's cat had the same name. Ugh. This was like 15 years ago! Thankfully we still have a boy's name that we agree on from when I was pg w/ dd.

My "rule" is that it can't be in the top 100 and I prefer it to not be a name that is on the rise on the charts over the last few years. I don't like names that are nicknames (like, I wouldn't name my daughter Katie, I would want it to be short for a longer name) and definitely don't like names that end in an -ee sound (although nicknames ending in -ee are fine).

We can't decide on a girl name so we've given up talking about it for now. For a boy we like Calvin.

We have two names picked out for each gender (just to cover out bases) and have for quite a while. But then, we met on a baby name website.

Ruth or Ezra.

We've had our girl name picked out for a while. We've been talking about boy names but we havent found one that we really love. When we picked ds's name (sebastian) we just knew.

We haven't firmed up names yet, but have veto'ed a lot LOL.

DD#1 is Veronica Piper Rose, DD#2 is Claudia Tatijanna

We're thinking of the following names
girl :Kirsten Michaela (Michael was my father's name, he passed away this Jan)

boy: Matthias Andrew Otto (middle names are family names)

But we're tossing names around every night!

I love talking about names! We haven't reached any sort of agreement on boy or girl names, but my top picks are Willow for a girl and Kyler for a boy.
I love the name Willow for a girl! Our last name is West though and it sounds like one word.

We have a girl's first name picked and a boy's middle name picked. But our rule is that you can'te tell the name until after the baby arrives in case you change your mind and so that others can't tell you how much they hate the name that you love!
