I'm finding that chips (I have no idea what the American translation is, but it's a thick strip of potato, fried. Like french fries but quadruple the size) topped with mushy peas and mint sauce help with queasy bouts. It was my craving last time round as well, but NOT good for the waistline.
Steak fries?

Yeah, what is it about the fast food?? It's not the fat and grease, cause I just made myself a pan full of bacony eggs cooked in bacon grease, and could barely keep it down. But I bet if I had gotten an egg mcmuffin, I would be in heaven! : Do fetuses secretly need scary antibiotic-ridden mystery meat?

Introducing myself a little

I figured this might be as good a time as any to introduce myself and say alittle about what's my situation.

It's so funny as I didn't expect to be in this club just yet. Mr Toona and I have been in the process of moving over the last nine months or so (from the west to OH!). I got here first in OCtober and he finally was able to move (U-Haul filled and all) in May (fancy, looking at how far along I am 9w5d, I'm pretty sure I can pinpoint the conception!).

We've been talking about having a child together (He's got 4 kids, therefore they are my steps), but we've not been too successful as I'm one of those folks whose cycles has it's own free will! Our last 2 pregnancies were miscarriages, but I think that in all it's for the better...

So here we are, and in the middle of this new house we've bought and fixing up, I've been pregnant nearly the whole time he's been here and neither of us have noticed! (Mr Toona gets morning sickness, tiredness, hiccups etc). I did notice sore breasts about amonth ago, but they went away, so I thought maybe I was making it up! (Just like I've been making up the nausea I guess!).

well I finally decided that since my new insurance with my job has kicked in, I ought to find a gyn/CNM. My cousin recommended this one in particular, but as the CNM was booked, I ended up scheduled to see a MD. I told her my usual, wacky cycle story, she did a normal pelvic exam... and then ordered some blood work and an u/s to see if I have anything wierd (fibroids or PCOS). Well yesterday I had the u/s and guess what! I know why THIS cycle has not arrived! (Though of course it doesn't explain my other missing cycles). She told me I'm 9w4d pregnant! (No fibroids! wee! EDD of 2-10-08, but I speculate a later actual due date). I was a bit shocked, because I don't have the best rate at getting pregnant, and here when we weren't paying any attention to it, and just really happy to see each other after several months of not seeing each other - BINGO!

Of course I'm still adjusting, I'm a little floored that it's actually happening, and still feeling shaken, but am certainly feeling the excitement! (not sure how to break the news at work, though they seem to be fairly family friendly). I haven't even had time to read up on anything or get any books yet, but that's why I'm here! And to also learn from all of you very learned women. I need to set up my first ever OB appt next week and all that, and find out about tests and what not. I think I will make sure that from here on out I get a CNM instead of a MD because that's what I prefer. Of course, I wish I could bring my CNM from out west because she was WONDERFUL, but here's to trying a few new things!!

Wowsa here comes my first Teenyteeny!

Congratulations, Leah!
For the benefit of Mara and the other HP geeks, Order of the Phoenix was pretty cool Beautiful to look at- but god, the teenage angst! I am so grateful that I never have to be fifteen again...

We're going to see HP tomorrow - I'm surprising my dh. I can't wait!

I was going to post some more, but I've just been informed by my 5 year old and almost-7 year old that they're taking us all out to dinner with their birthday money that arrived in the mail yesterday.

Yay for TeenyTeeny!

Lorax - I hope you can make things work and good luck on the test.

Thanks for all of your kind words - it's heartbreaking when you ask you child what's wrong on the way to school and he says he wants to stay home with mommy. I'm looking forward to the fall because he'll be going three mornings a week instead of two afternoons and he'll be bussed to boot so no more hiking it (10 blocks up, 10 blocks over in the afternoon heat) or using mass transit to get him there.

There was an awful lot of activity going on in my pelvis yesterday and I think my uterus has popped up because I'm having a lot more ligament pain and I'm also feeling the first twinges of the evil that is SPD (like I've been kicked in the crotch). It hasn't helped matters that my left SI joint has been out of whack for the past three days too. I'm going to start looking for a chiro in earnest on Monday.

Being the purist that I am, I am steadfastly avoiding the HP movie. The first three weren't too bad for me, but I couldn't even get through the first 30 minutes of GoF before my husband asked me to turn it off because I was screaming at the TV. I was like that for Fellowship of the Ring too - my husband told me it was incredibly unnerving to sit next to someone radiating so much anger at the screen. We are supposed to be gaming next Saturday so I won't be able to spend the day reading the new book like I planned. In years past I have stayed up all night to read it in one go, but the all-nighter I pulled a few weeks ago took me days to recover from so it's a no-no while pregnant.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend (although I'm sure I'll be on at least a half-dozzen times, MDC addict that I am right now).

Jenn, you are not alone.

My SPD has already started acting up. It started about this time last pregnancy too. I had almost forgotten how painful it was.. I had to have my dh help me off the floor today because already I couldn't do it. Its going to be a long pregnancy.:

Luckily my OB will give me a referral to a chiro like she did last time, so I can have some relief at least. The further along I get, the more I cannot walk. I was almost in a wheelchair last time.
