We found a German surname (a family name on my side) that was listed as a first name on a German baby list and we're considering using it, even though it's usually a surname. I would really like to make this work as even if uncomventional, hubby was sparked by it and that's one of the only things he's sparked on .

All my boys have two middle names, hyphenated. The second is James for all of them, and even though I kind of regret that, hubby would like to continue it if this is a boy.

So, with those two things in mind, we would like the middle names to be Ritter-James. FEEL FREE TO TELL ME IF THIS IS AWFUL!!!

We're spinning our wheels on boys names still, so anything is fair game, really. WHAT great boys name would go with that? _______ Ritter-James

Also, our last name is 4 letters and starts with W.
Hubbily prefers something strong and I'm not always hitting the mark there. We're also bouncing between newer names and more traditional names.

I was thinking of some of these (and please also make your own suggestions!):

Maddox Ritter-James
Shane Ritter-James
Landon Ritter-James
Logan Ritter-James
Finn Ritter-James
Shea Ritter-James
Maxwell Ritter-James
Thomas Ritter-James

My nephew is a Maddox! (My other nephew is a James actually! )

For some reason, Henry Ritter-James sounds good to me.

As a mama of a boy named Finn...I like that one! I also think Oliver Ritter-James sounds cool...like an author...what does Ritter mean? Finn means Fair or Bright, so maybe match two that make a nice meaning together. Our newest son is Geoffrey Finn William ______. It means "peace-bearing fair protector". He goes by Finn.

Henry is out and Oliver is out too (one of my sons' knicknames is Ollie). But I liked both!

As far as Finn goes, it's near the top of my list. I am still trying to get hubby on board. Ritter means Knight, so Fair Knight does sound good together. You can't get more fair skinned and haired than us

Please keep going!!! I love the suggestions, even if two wouldn't work.

I like Shane Ritter-James W---

Has a nice ring to it.

Well, I didn't vote, but I have to say I am not crazy about Ritter-James.
If you go with that though I like the ring of August Ritter-James (okay, I really liked Henry, but you said that's out!) I always wonder about those "month" names, though. As in, is it silly or weird to name a child for a month that's not their birth month?!

I've always wondered that too. I am not sure!

Dave Mathews and his wife just had their third child (named August) in June. I actually think it might be better to use it in a month that's not the month the babe is born in. But I am not sold on month names at all.

By the way, August was born at home!

I like one-syllable first names with Ritter-James as the middle. But then the one-syllabled first name has to jive with the one-syllabled last name. Like, if they rhymed, it might be too much, eh?

Not in your DDC, but I think Ritter-James is fine. It is nice to go with something that dp really likes. I remember mine not being too excited about much either, so it does hit you when something does.

I'd ask what your dp's and ds' first names are - just to make baby name suggestions "fit" your family. I also like each child to have their own initial (my sister, brother and I all have the same initials).

Without knowing what your sons' names are, I like:

Sawyer
Levi
Eli
Braden
Logan
Nolan
Kaden
Ian
Devon

I am not too concerned with a rhyming name. I would have to name my child something like Geeks to rhyme with hubby's last name (Weeks).

And now, to truly prove what a pregnant brain I have, I have been saying the name is 4 letters. It's not. Weeks is 5 letters.

Yes, I'm really THAT sad.

I really really like Ritter-James as a MN.. I realize this sounds stupid (given it is DS2's name) but I like the flow of Evan Ritter-James, or Elliot or Harry... we are totally at an impasse for boy names... and ALL my girl names have been "no's" to DH *sigh*.. he ahs refused to discuss names until Sept.... arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Even and Elliot have crossed my mind, but they seem so popular right now too. I just cannot decide!

I like it! And I like all the names that you've listed...they seem to work well together.
