I never thought I would post ONE poll or thread on names, and here I am on my second. Since the first is getting a lot of votes, I thought I would press my luck.

Mara (Marr-ah) is a combo of my mother's and MIL's names, so that fits with the family names we use with our boys' middle names.

What do you think of Daisy Mara? Our last name starts with a W and is 4 letters.

She could go as D. Mara W____ if she ever feels Daisy doesn't suit her. I LOVE Daisy, but hubby doesn't think it's strong enough. However, he did actually agree that Daisy Mara was something he could live with.

We've done so many rounds I don't know what sounds good anymore. Hubby would prefer the other options that focus on Fiona though.

Help me out here! Feel free to say Ew! too. I need to know if I am delusional.

Would you consider Mara as a first name? I LOVE that name and I think either of your other choices would make a great middle name for it...

I think the three together, in any order, sounds sort of like a list of names? They don't seem to roll off the tongue. I'm big on name "flow", though, so take my opinion FWIW

Mara Daisy W_
Mara Fiona W_

ETA: I like the three name thing on your boys name thread though, I think those names roll together so the flow issue isn't there. I'm not anti-three-names as a general rule

I am really trying to talk myself into Mara Daisy or Mara Fiona, but haven't yet. Do I like our mothers enough to name her after them? I love the name Mara!!! But hubby made this big deal out of how it could be a combo name for mom and MIL to both of them and so is it the stinker in me that is then holding back???

I voted for Fiona Mara but I actually like Mara Fiona the best... very very pretty and also "stronger" than daisy,, sorry but Daisy (although lovely) makes me think Daisy Dukes or Daisy May (ie, stupid brainless babe with big cans..) but that's just me??

i voted for "daisy mara" because i love the name daisy! but fiona is nice too. i agree that the flow with these particular names is better with just two of them.

Well, I really like Daisy! (in spite of all the things it might make you think of like Laura said ) We're thinking of Daisy as a nickname...

i love daisy, but my husband used his veto power on that one for us. (we each have a few vetos we're allowed to use during the name selection) Daisy Mara sounds lovely!

I voted "none of the above" on this one...none of them sounded good to me. But I'm in a bad mood today...

Mara Jane sounds great!

Maura Jane is my sisters name! Too cute!

I honestly chose none of the above....LOVE Fiona....Mara is great....Daisy not so much...but not Fiona and Mara together either....just me...

I *love* the name Mara...it's beautiful. I babysat a Mara while in college...she was a great child. It'd make a great first name. But...

I voted for Fiona Mara.

Many of my friends have dogs named Daisy. Not saying that it isn't a beautiful little girls name. But it makes me think of beagles and cocker spaniels.

Well GUESS what? Hubby actually thinks he likes Mara Jayn (he picked the spelling of Jane, though I am partial to plane ol' Jane I think). We'll see if he remembers this in a week, but it's promising. I really wasn't that stoked about his choice of Fiona, and I was worried that my love for Daisy was selfish and she would be teased. I still think we should go with cheddar

So, how does Mara Jane Weeks sound?

OHHHHHHH LOVE Love it !!! that's your winner! (sorry if I offended all the Daisy lovers) but you DID ask for honesty!!

No offense for me. I love the name Daisy, no matter what! But we are also agreed that we want a strong name and one that won't immediately cause her respect issues. I think both Daisy and Fiona walk that thin line.

wow, I love Daisy AND Mara, but dh doesn't, so I had to vote on your poll!! So I hope you go w/ it!!!
I voted "none of the above" because while I like the sound of the name Mara, I can't get beyond its meaning:

Sea of Bitterness

But if name meanings don't mean anything to you, then I do like Mara Jane.

Mara Daisy or Mara Fiona (or the other way around) just don't do it for me because the names seem to be of different styles.

I LOVE the name Daisy! Unfortunately, a couple months ago, our nephews got their first pet... a hamster... and they named her Daisy. So I don't think I can use it now. It is a great name, though!
