What could be wrong with me?

I'm only 7 weeks, but already I'm swollen, my arms are falling asleep when I lie down in bed, and my joints hurt at night! I'm weird and have a really hard time swallowing pills, so I'm taking childrens chewable vitamins, eating tons and tons of spinach, and taking floradix 2x a day instead of prenatal vitamins. I'm wondering if I'm lacking something nutritionally that could cause all of this. Any ideas?

I don't know. i don't think all that swelling is quite right. I would call an OB or a midwife to get checked out.

You may not be getting enough vitamin B. I upped my vitamin B intake with my son's pregnancy (and now this one) and never became swollen or had numbness like I did with my first 2 pregnancies. Vitamin B6 is actually needed in order for your body to utilize iron, so if that is the problem, all that spinach and floridix may not be doing as much for you as they could. Since pills are causing you trouble, you might try a liquid supplement like this: http://www.vitacost.com/Twinlab-Super-B-Complex-Liquid

B vitamins can also help alleviate morning sickness, and I found out today that taking a B vitamin supplement can also help prevent mosquito bites. Who knew?

I also take flax oil to help with joint pain when I have it.

Thanks! I'll try the B vitamin and see if that helps.

I have been swimming with my kids for several hours twice lately and I can say it really helps!!!! I feel less bloated after and the next day. Also, yoga helps a lot. it helps to circulate the blood and water a bit better than just sitting or laying down will. I am also drinking raw milk this time around and notice a big difference with feeling puffy, as opposed to my previous pregnancies where I drank soy.

I concur with the vitamin B recommendation. Also... Potassium. According to Wise Woman's Herbal, raw beet juice works to restore your body's natural sodium/potassium balance.
