How much is tuition?

I was just curious how much Montessori tuition is. The more I research about the Montessori philosophy the more and more I *have* to have my daughter go. I don't want to get my hopes up if there is no way we can afford it.

Everything is cheaper in Idaho (someone will prove me wrong): we pay $500/month for DD's Montessori preschool/toddler program, which is all day Tues-Thurs, and half-day on Friday.

I looked into an elementary school program for future reference, and it is $6k/year, which does not include after school programs/care or summertime stuff.

At my son's school the typical schedule is 5 days/week from 8:45 - 2:45. That costs around $500/month. You can choose to pick up by 12:30 for under-3, and you can choose fewer than 5 days for any age, so it's possible to pay less and still attend. We do the 5-day, full-day option as DH and I both WOH.

Dd goes 5 days a week from 8:30-2:45 and it is approx $500/mo. I think for children under 3 it is 5 days a week 8:30-11:30 and it is approx $350/mo(?). At the school she attends there is no option for how many days a week the children go, 5 days a week is mandatory, regardless of age. I think it is worth every penny though

It is entirely dependent on the area and the circumstances of the school. My school is in a very affluent area of our region, but by renting a small church space and having a social justice mindset, our tuition is half of what most other Montessori schools here cost... For Labor Day - Memorial Day, 9-3:30 it's about $5500. Most other M schools here are $12000. There are, however, several Catholic schools with good M programs that are also very affordable.

Call around! That's the best way to get a realistic idea of what you are dealing with, and from there you can figure out how feasible it is for your family.

Ours, located in suburban NYC, is full-time (8:30 to 4:30, although I could pick up as late as 6 p.m.) five days a week, year-round. Tuition per child is between $12K and $13K.

Our boys start in Sept. The cost is $5140.00 each, full days 8:45 to 3:15. They give a 10% discount for siblings tuition. We will be paying $975.00 a month for 10 months.

Ugh. Probably my least favorite question lately...

5days/week (all ages)
8:30-11:45, $8,900
8:30-3:15, $11,000

It is so freaking expensive here! But, if you compare it to other private schools in the area, it is competitive. And they are non-profit, so I have to assume they are somewhat fiscally responsible.

Too much here!

For primary, it's $8900 for 5 days a week (all they offer at my daughter's Montessori). The primary "Kindergarten" year is $11,000.

I think it is more because of our location (outside of Washington DC) and also it is 1 of 3 Montessori's in Virginia that are fully accredited with AMS.

We had dd in Montessori school from preschool through the 8th grade, AMI Montessori. The last two years were 8900.00 each and I'm sure it has gone up since then. I thought it was a lot until dd chose to go to boarding school at an arts academy for high school- total annual tuition, before the piano performance scholarship-$47,000.00! But I digress- $8900.00 per year for AMI Montessori education. By the way, that did not include all the trips-- two weeks to Italy, 10 days in DC and Williamsburg, VA. and 10 days on the Olympic Penninsula, which added several thousand $$ more to the total cost. And then there were the multiple fundraisers, the "Annual Giving", the yearly Auction, book and bake sales, car washes and so forth. Private Montessori is a vocation and well worth it!

In Little Rock, the one I wanted to get DS into is $5000 a year. We divided by 12 and said, "Well, that's not so bad."

Then we remembered a little thing called summer. D'oh!

In KS--our school cost about $650/month for all day primary classroom (7:30-5:30). The price varied per month as they spread various fees out throughout the year.
