Another Atlanta, GA area mom here. We are paying roughly $6700 for the school year (1/2 day primary class, 8:30 - 11:45). Siblings are a 5% discount, and tuition increases when it is full day primary (8:30 - 3-ish). This is for 9 months, they do not offer summer school, and extended care is $35 per day extra (till 5:30 PM at the latest).

Payment is due in thirds, 1st in May, 2nd in Sept, final in January.

IN Central NY the tuition is 9500 for the school year (5 year olds, its a bit less for the 3 & 4year olds) (8:15am - 2:45pm, Sept - June)

And there is an increase each year.

up to 8G a year depending on full or part time where I am....

When I was in Montessori School (1983-1989...end of 8th grade) our school was $5500/yr with no sibling discounts. This was in NE PA (Scranton).

It was a parent owned school with a fantastic director, Kathleeen.....

I believe they are still there, I am sure with a new director and a new name......from what I hear....

There is a smaller school in my area that charges $160/wk for fulltime preschool.......but with traffic in the mornings from where I am to where it is, it would take about an hour to get there.

Northern CA
For our 3 yr old, it's $480/mo, M-TH 8:30-11:30
It just went up from $430 last year.

I grumble about the money, and it is the most expensive school in town, but I know the money is being used wisely. The teachers start off at $15/hr, where as at the less expensive (non-M) schools, they mostly start off at min wage. We live in an expensive area and I just wouldn't feel right supporting a school that doesn't even offer a living wage.

And of course, besides all that, we LOVE our school. DD is excited to go back in Sept.

We are in Chicago and tuition varies from school to school. The one we picked charges $7,800 for the school year for the Community Program (18 mo - 3 yrs), FT (8:30AM - 3:30PM). For our family that is quite the expense, but worth EVERY PENNY.

tuition

Here in the Cleveland area, for real Montessori private preschool (not a chain, not run by a for-profit entity, etc) tuition for a three hour 5 day program runs from about as low as $3900 to as high as $5900 per year; extended day (staying until 3pm) generally costs about $1000 more per year (September through June). All Day rons about $1050 per month, but none of our private Montessori's offer year round all day (yet!).

However, we also have a wonderful Montessori in the inner city that serves 40 children and is run by an order of nuns; its tuition slides based on income to as little as 25 dollars per month.

On the West side there is a progressive school that has preschool through eigth grade, and it has a sliding scale fee schedule as well (as low as 10 dollars a month, as high as 400 dollars a month) and it's 3 preschool classrooms are all Montessori, and all very authentic.

So, hopefully there are options where you live at different levels too...I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I feel better reading some of these prices, and that ours is a little less expensive. I'll have to tell my dh what a good deal we're getting.

We're in Tucson, AZ.
5 days (8:30 - 11:30) $440

I can't remember how much full day cost. Kindergarten used to be free for half day, then you pay for the afternoon if you want full day. But this year they got funding and the whole day is free. It's a charter school and K - 8th grade is no cost.

I'm happy that we only have to pay for preschool, then it will be no cost. Otherwise we couldn't afford it. It's not cheap, but it's worth it. Ds is thriving in the Mont environment.
