Spotting 4 weeks 3 days (now bleeding)

Today at Target I went to pee and I had blood on my underwear. I came home and checked my cervix and it was low soft and open. Please tell me this is normal and everything is ok. What came out on my fingers was brown and mucusy. I'm calling the doctor's office tomorrow morning first thing. I'm also kind feeling crampy... I've been feeling that way most of the day. I'm trying not to get upset but it is really hard. I never had spotting with my two babes.

Is your spotting dark brown? I ask because that is how I knew I was pg. My af had been inconsistent and it was only day 24 of my cycle but I had gloppy dark brown spotting and thought that was odd. Then the next day I had nothing so I took a pt and it was positive.

I also know that my best friend spotted with her last pregnancy in her first trimester and it freaked her out so she requested an u/s and the baby was just fine. He's 2 now.

Since my shower I've not had any more make it to my undies (I put a pad on just in case) But when I wiped there was a little. It is dark brown.. but almost looks purplish....? I don't know it is kinda like what you get at the very end of af when your body is cleaning it's self out of the left over residue. If that makes any sense. I think that along with the af like cramping I've been feeling all day has got me feeling uneasy. I'm still calling in the morning. They will get over it. I'll just ask to see the lady I always see. She does not do the baby thing, but I like her and trust her. She will also order to have my thyroid checked.

Usually, dark blood is not problematic.

Even red blood can be OK. I had bleeding throughout my first trimester with my son, light bleeding, but bright red blood, like the first day of my period, it would last for about a week.

With my miscarriage, I had the same bleeding, but it quickly got worse and came with crampiness that left me wanting to hunch over or lay down.

I hope that helps somewhat, but I'm sure every woman's experience is different.

Try not to worry yourself to death (hard, i know) My cervix always feels partially open, and it goes up and down during the day. It's usually softer too. Brown spotting, or even a bit red can be perfectly normal. You are still early, and it could be more implantation. : :

Well I just went to the bathroom again and there was more blood and it dripped. I'm sure it was not just from my urine rinsing it off. : I have to find out if my thyroid is causing this. What is going on?

I hate to say this, mama, but I've been there twice. 50% of pregnancies have bleeding, and 50% of those end in miscarriage, most before 8 weeks & nearly all before 12. I really hope that's not what you're going through, because it sucks to be there, but it's very likely that the pregnancy is ending itself. *hugs*

Thank you everyone. I have an appointment at 11 today. It was really hard for me to get to sleep last night, and then all my dreams where bad. Then I had the hardest time motivating this morning to get up and make the call. But I did it about 9:30 or so. I'm about to head out it takes about 30 minutes to get to the office. Hugs and good luck at the doctor. I'm one of those who had bleeding/spotting throughout my first trimester with ds and had a healthy pregnancy and a great baby. But we're here for you whatever happens.
