I never took it, and had 2 fast labors (5 1/2 hrs. for first and 3 1/2 hrs. for second), but was wondering if I took it now (38 1/2 wks), would it help tone my uterus and help afterwards (if I drank it postpartum) with toning my uterus. This is my third pg in 5 yrs., so was wondering if it'd be good to go get some today. Also, how much should I drink? TIA!

Well, it certainly wouldn't hurt, I don't think! Definately you can take it now, and even after the baby is born it is supposed to be beneficial. If you haven't taken it before, I'd recommend adding honey, it's sort of a "weedy" taste (unless you ordinarily don't mind herbal concoctions!)

I've been drinking 4-5 cups a day, but I've been drinking RRL tea the entire pregnancy. Maybe try out 1-2 cups today, and do 2-3 cups for a few days and see how that is. Then increase afterwards if you feel like it. Don't be surprised if it greases the wheels of your lower GI tract!

I haven't being drinking it too too regularly, but on and off since about 30 weeks. When I do, though, I drink an entire pot throughout the day.

Anyway, these past few days (tomorrow I'll be 39wks), the baby gets really active with it....heehee (of course warm and cold liquids do this in general, eh?)

ITA w/ Clara--It's a nourishing tea so no matter when you start it its going to be beneficial to you... I've been drinking a quart a day since about 15 weeks but like Clara said, start out with a cup or two for the next few days and then up it to a quart a day until labor day... I have to put a little bit of sugar in mine (because I normally drink sweet tea) but it really doesn't take much at all as the tea itself has lots of 'taste' to it... And Clara is sooo right about it greasing the GI tract!! It's not that it will give you diarrhea or anything, but you will probably poop a nice one in a day or two!! :

I drink about 2 liters of red raspberry tea (with dandelion, nettle, alfafa, camomile) that my husband makes for me every evening. The midwives taught him how to brew it from herbal leaves and to add Stevia to sweeten it. We bought a huge amount of organic herbs to make this concoction (hence the <==== DDDC, I ran an herb co-op). I drink it in cold, iced tea form and it's absolutely delicious!

I drank raspberry tea throughout my last regnancy and I really think that's why labor and delivery were so easy. At least it helped. I plan to drink it after birth too to tone the uterus, as thats what I did last time and I had very little afterpains compared to the birth before.

The difference between this time and last time is I used tea bags (Traditional Medicine and Yogi teas), which really don't have much potency, especially compared to brewing your own from the leaves. I don't even need to take prenatals this time because I get MORE vitamins and minerals from the tea than I would from any pill.

I make mine REALLY strong (I would brew 2 cups to 4 teabags for 10 min!) becuase I don't like tea unless it's got good flavor, drink it iced with lots of lemon-no sugar (even a little was too sweet for me)
