Prenatal appointments towards the end of pregnancy...

How often do you see your hb mw towards the end of pregnancy? I was 37 weeks yesterday and the midwife & her assistants came out and did the home visit/prenatal at our house and said they'd see me again on my due date...?? I had seen them at 36 weeks and 32 weeks before that but I guess I'm just used to going to the OB every 1-2 weeks as I get closer to the end of pg as my last dc was a hospital birth with an OB.

I don't feel like anything is *wrong* with not being seen but I would like my blood pressure and urine checked weekly, just to be safe this close to the end, yk?

Is it ok not to be seen every 1-2 weeks towards the end or what is standard procedure for your midwife?

TIA!!

My HB midwives follow the same standard schedule as OB care, which includes weekly visits starting at 36 weeks.

My midwives see me every week and that started at 37 weeks. I thought it was odd they wouldn't be seeing you again till EDD when I read that before...

Same here- and now that I'm past 41 weeks they saw me yesterday and are seeing me again on Friday. I wouldn't feel comfortable with fewer visits- I just start getting more worried about the baby at the end.

I am not having a HB, and I am being watched for PIH. Without the PIH I would be seeing the WM once a week, with the PIH I go twice a week. I am a little jealous of you- I feel like all I do is go to the office.

My mw sees me weekly since 36 weeks. Last week (37 weeks) she was running late because she had been at a birth and wasn't sure she was going to make it..she told me she might have to re-schedule or we could just skip it and wait until the following week but she was more comfortable seeing me sometime that week.

I think it's kind of odd as well. You should just call her and ask her why. I'm sure she probably has a good answer.

Oh and my mw's still do it but there is a thread in Birth and Beyond that is all about how the urine testing is completely unnecessary.

Well, I see an OB and am "high risk" (ugh, I hate that term), so I've been going in weekly since around 30 weeks. Just wanted to say that I personally wouldn't be comfortable not being checked on once a week this close to the end.

mw comes about every 1.5 weeks or so, when she will be in the area.

I go weekly after 36 weeks too, but last week I didn't have an appt because of the 4th of July (mw only sees patients on Wednesdays at my clinic), and my mw was not concerned at all that I wouldn't be seen between 37.5 wks and 39.5 wks. It has made me a little nervous, but I figure as long as baby is moving around normally then everything is fine, I hope!

My midwives *usually* do every week after 36 weeks, but I had been so starightforward and easy, never a problem, that they streached them out for me. I think I went from 36 to 37.5 to 39.5
She kind of gave me a wink wink and a nod nod when when spread them out like that, but I was comfortable with it and told her if I felt like I needed to see her sooner I would call. We are about an hour away from another so I think saving the extra travel time was helpful to both of us.
But if you are NOT comfortable to wait that long, then by all means, don't!

Thanks guys!! I just sent her a message with my concern so I'll wait to hear back what she has to say... I got to thinking about it, we had invited another one of her patients that lives close to us to our house to have her prenatal at the same time and she's only like 22 weeks... I was thinking maybe since we were talking 'scheduling our next appointment' at the same time that maybe they just forgot the fact that I was already 37 weeks? I dunno??

Maybe its like you were saying ahdoula, that she felt like it would be ok to space them out since I've not really had any problems all along?? She has mentioned multiple times that I am to call her if I feel *anything* is up, maybe we're on an 'as needed' basis at this point?? I don't know, I'm all hormonal and preggo brain-y today and I just don't want any anxiety this close to the birth, yk? I get fidgety going 4 weeks in between regular prenatals as it is, I just like the reassurance that *everything is perfect* that I get when I'm with them, yk?

I'll let you guys know when I hear back from her...

THANKS AGAIN!!

My OB saw me every other week after 24 weeks, and now I'm on weekly apts.

ETA: My insurance won't pay for midwife visits, so my "weekly" visits are more like every 10-12 days or so as it's hard to book every single week with the actual OB. I feel confident that all is well, since I have absolutely no risk factors.

My midwife sees people every week after 36 weeks, but I've been spacing it out to every other week. I really don't feel the need to drive there every week. It's my fourth baby. I figure if something feels off, I can call them.
