low-lying placenta

I'm trying not to wig out but yesterday I went for my 30 week recheck US after they found that my placenta was low-lying (not "marginal" and touching the os and not partial or full placenta previa---just too close for comfort to the os) and we were hoping that it would have moved upward as the uterus grew thus far. I don't know the comparison of where it sat at 20 wks to where it sits now but appearantly it's still "low-lying". I am planning a HB and want to know if anyone else experienced this this far along and has any positive stories to share to give me hope that in these last 10 weeks when the bottom of the uterus should be stretching the most that it will and the placenta will not be so close to the os in upcoming weeks. I've not bled at all (knock on wood) but I'm really bothered by this (while shelling out money to plan this HB not covered by my insurance). I don't want to change my plans but everything I read says that "by 30 weeks the placenta should be moving upward" and mine obviously isn't. Is my HB (or vaginal natural birth for that matter) destined to not happen?? I'm waiting to hear from my HB midwife (left her a VM this morn) and have an appt with the CNM at my Dr's office today so maybe they'll have some inspiring news as well. Need all the positive thoughts I can get. Trying so hard to visualize that placenta moving upward...not sure exactly how that works but I'm willing to try ANYTHING! Waaaa!

Did they tell you how far from your cervix it is? My placenta at my 19w u/s was 2.5cm from my cervix. When I was seeing my ob, he wanted to see it at 3cm away, but my midwife says 2.5cm is not a problem.

I don't have a story for you, but I have known of other mothers who have had no problems with hb with partial placenta previas. As long as your midwife is confident, and you have confidence then low-lying shouldn't hinder your hb.
Take a deep breath.
