Dream Interpretation Help!

I'm one day away from being 41 weeks pregnant. This is my first baby. i've been talking to her, telling her it's ok to come out. I feel like I've been ready for quite awhile now! So anyway, last night right before I went to bed I prayed that if there was something going on with me, sub-consciously (sp?) that is holding my body back from going into labor, that I would become aware of it. So of course, I had a dream. I had a dream I was walking down the sidewalk, and it was covered in dead snakes. There were other things going on in the dream, but this was the most significant part. A dream dictionary I found online says that seeing snakes in your dreams show "hidden fears and worries that are threatening you" Well ok, so what the heck ARE they?! And why do you think the snakes were dead???
PS. I just wanted to add that I'm not one of those people who are afraid of snakes, since I know that it is very common to have a strong fear for them. They don't really bother me. These were very small snakes. In the dream the only disturbing part was that they were dead, and I had to walk on top of them to get wherever I was going.

I don't know but I dreamt about snakes the entire time I was pregnant with my first... LOTS of snakes, small ones most of the time, like you mentioned... I read in my dream interpretation book that this meant I felt like someone was out to get me and I seriously think it was my baby's sperm donor's mother who I felt like was going to try to come and take my baby away from me (she didn't want me having the baby when I first got pregnant and she was fairly psychotic to begin with--which is why I never stressed about the baby's father not being around...) Needless to say, my ds has never met this woman, but I did fear, the whole time I was pregnant, that she was out to get me, or my baby... Do you have any sort of similar situation (where you feel someone is threatening you or your baby?)

I was induced at 41w2d with him, just fyi...

I don't have much to offer by way of dream interpretation, except to say that it's a rare mama who doesn't have some anxiety and fear about labor/birth. I've done this several times now and they are still present for me to some degree!

Also, remember that getting to 41 weeks doesn't necessarily mean YOU are holding birth back with your anxieties. I know after 40 weeks feels "late," but 40 weeks is an arbitrary deadline, not anything absolute. You're well within the range of normal and most likely your baby is just not 100% completely ready for life outside the womb. But s/he WILL be very very very very soon. Hang in there, mama!

This is your first, right? I know that there are a ton of things that every normal person worries about when facing childbirth, but with the first it is all so heightened. Everything from the baby being ok and having a healthy, happy birth to being good parents and all that can cause you great anxiety. Just know that it is normal, things will work out great, and, in the end, you will have a beatiful baby in your arms.

It is very rare that things are literal in dreams. Dreaming of death, for example, is rarely about actual death.

Ok, here's my guess...

If snakes represent your fears then -

1) Since they were dead, maybe it is your mind telling you that you have already "killed", or taken care of your fears

2) Since you had to walk over them to get were you are going, maybe that means you just need to go over your previous fears and why you aren't afraid of them anymore

Just a guess?

Thanks for all your comments ladies. I took a long walk today just to be by myself and think. I think I'm going to try to relax and not worry so much.
