False negative for skin test?

My daughter is/was(?) allergic to eggs. I took her to the allergist today to get a 6 month follow up skin test. The first one, 6 months ago, was positive almost instantly. This time there was no skin bump, the test was negative for allergy. The doctor told me to go home and give her a few bites of scrambled egg. Well, an hour later she's puking all over the floor. The only two differences this time is that instead of her skin getting splotchy and red, she just went pale, and it took a little longer for her to puke.

My question is: Was the test a false negative?

Has anyone else had an experience like this?

Yes, you can get a false negative on a skin test. We had a similar situation, but for my DD it was dairy that was false negative but she still has major reactions too. Reactions definitely trump test results.
