Midwife's fee for perineal repair?

I gave birth at home after a super short labor. There was not enough time to get to the birthcenter that we were planning on using. We did however go in afterwards with an appointment to get me checked out.

I got the bill yesterday. In addition to the midwife's provider fee, they're billing me a facility fee for the use of the birthcenter. When I called and inquired about this charge, the billing office claimed that the $2500 facility fee was actually the cost of the perineal repair. Now wouldn't that be covered under the midwife's fees?

What is the going rate for a second-degree perineal repair?

We have other issues here with the midwives, but I'm trying to get the money aspect of things taken care before I get into the care and professionalism issues.

I charge $200 for a perineal repair...but what they are charging you...a facility fee...is different. A facility fee is a fee for birthing at the center and the postpartum stay...did you get a financial agreement??

That's what I told the billing person. I told her if they're going to charge me separately for the repair, that they need to bill it as such. I'm looking into the financial agreement and waiting on a return phone call next week after the billing person talks to the midwife again.

Thank you for your reply.
