My nursling that is my milk as of last night droped all the sudden like literally I nursed her fine all day then last night there wasn't much and she keeps trying to nurse and she gets frustrated and unlatches and shakes her head no it is so sad I am eating alot of oats but it doesnt' seem to be helping, I still let her dry nurse or technically I do still have some it just isn't much and she sits there and squeezes my bbs trying to make more come out and she just can't figure it out .

aw poor little thing.
too bad you can't transfer that to me because I'm trying to wean mine. She is quite an aggressive nurser, even at age 2.5.

i do feel bad for your little one though since you said she can't figure out what's going on. do you try to have a substitute ready? (even though we know there's no "real" substitute for mama's milk & the closeness.)

How old is your baby? Do you think it would help if you said to her, "uh oh, all gone. want some chocolate milk? mommy will hold you while you drink it." (or something) I dont know.. just trying to help.

I'm sorry. I'm really dreading that happening here. My little guy is 20 months but still nurses a TON. He's going to be soooo sad.

I guess I'd just try to be positive about it with your dc - like when she's obviously emptied your breasts out, have a favorite book closeby so that you two can read and snuggle together for a few minutes.

She is 15 months old and chocolate milk is the ONLY thing she will drink and yes I do give her some in a bottle and hold her while she drinks it though I feel like she needs to not have a bottle but a cup but she won't drink it out of a cup only a bottle.

We're going through something similar here. Skye seems to be choosing to wean during this pregnancy though- she's not really asking at all. I can't dry-nurse though, it hurts too much.

(((HUGS))))) Helen, I am sorry it hurts you I have been afraid of that for myself but thankfully it doesn't hurt when she nurses at all infact this time around my nips haven't been sore in the slightest but dd is not asking as much now and she isn't getting as mad when she nurses and there isn't much there.

That's so sad! Your poor little baby!

I'm really scared of my milk drying up. DS is only one and he loves nursing soooo much. I just don't know what would happen if my milk leaves.

Like this morning, he was scootching around on the floor playing ball, fell backwards and hit his head on the corner of the coffee table. I picked him up, whipped out the nummies and let him nurse. He made some sad whimpers for a minute, but then just closed his eyes and let himself be swept up in milky comfort. DH said, "Now that is a beautiful thing."

I don't want that to be gone yet!!

Oh I hear ya it is sad bc dd is the same way she is a boobaholic but she seems to be coping really well we only had a couple times where she really got upset now she just nurses but doesn't even hardly swollow so it is like she just wants to ahve it there for comfort which is fine.

I am wondering when this will start, e is still nurses every two hours and he is almost 2.5 I feel for him when it hits:

That is the saddest thing! Poor baby! I too have a "nurse-a-holic", and I'm hoping my milk supply dosen't change. I have PCOS, therefore excess prolactin, so I have over-abundant milk to begin with. Hopefully I'll just even out now.
