Anyone suspecting twins??

Hi there,
I did notice another post about twins, but i was wondering if anyone has any experience or a similar situation or input...
My LMP was June 11th. I'm not sure when i ovulated or conceived as there were many times that it could have happened. I had a dream that i gave birth to twins, and then i saw another woman giving birth to twins. On July 4th, which was 4 or 5 days before my period was expected, I took a HPT in the afternoon and the plus sign came up sooo fast and sooo dark that it scared me. Another test a few hours later had the same result. I had tested 10 dpo with my last pregnancy and the line was REALLY light, which would have been expected, i think.
And my grandmother had twins. And i've sort of wanted to have twins as well.
So what do you think? What do you think about the HPT coming up so strongly so many days before my period was due?
When can i have a scan to find out? Does anyone know? I've been trying to get in touch with my midwife for a few days and have not had much luck...

Hard to tell. Could be a really sensitive test, a REALLY sticky baby, or twins. You can usually see two sacs by 5.5 weeks, but two heartbeats around 7.

I've had a feeling this pregnancy is twins, but it's probably just one. I too have had really dark lines, my symptoms have been really bad (I usually never get m/s..in any of my pgs, and it's bad right now) I was on clomid, and I got pregnant with twins in march of 05 (lost dd's twin though). Chances are that it's one, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was another one. We'll see on the 30th!

so you are already experiencing morning sickness? I would think that would be an indicator of twins!
i am so far doing fine, i had terrible nausea with both of my last pregnancies, and i would love if i didn't have that this time!!

I'm suspicious, but not too hopeful. I got a very dark line at 11dpo, I'm already showing, my morning sickness is really bad, and twins run in my family. I'd actually be happier with just one, but if it's two I'll deal with it.

My husband keeps referring to "Billy and/or Clarissa" (not their real names). It makes me a bit nervous, as twins do run in the family.

Does anyone know if they skip a generation, though?

Not really, at least I hope not! My grandmother was a fraternal twin, but isn't it fraternal twins that aren't genetic?

I've been suspecting twins as well. My morning sickness is worse then it's ever been, I am absolutely so exhausted I can barely do anything all day and not only am I showing already, I can feel my uterus and it's up to just below my belly button and I'm only 7 weeks!! I wish there was a way to find out sooner if it's one or two but I guess I'll just have to wait it out!!!

No, fraternal twins are. It's the body's tendency to release an egg from both sides at ovulation.
Identical twins are just an unusual occurance.

Dh keeps telling me I am having 2 boys....help me if I am! It certainly would happen this time though. My grandmother had twin siblings, I am older now (still not that old) and have had multiple pregnancies (about 10 at this point)....all increasing my chances! I don't know which type of twin siblings my g-ma had so I'll just hang on to that for now! Good luck ladies! Have any of you been on the 8/07 board? I think they started with 10 sets of twins or something...wow!

Any more news on the twins front? I won't even see my midwife for two weeks. (i'm only 5 weeks now.)
I am pretty sure the m/s is setting in slowly. Every time i eat i feel nauseous for a few hours afterward, and i can't seem to get off the couch this week.
I do have a lot of round ligament pain.
I think i'll start a post and see if anyone else knows what i am talking about...

u/s today saw only one sac, one bean, one heartbeat... so i guess my not so secret hope for twins is out!

I thought I was feeling movement wich is nutty because I'm only about 6 1/2 weeks. I also have beeing seeing where if you are nursing there maybe an increase in your chances of twins. I think that the most likely cause of my flutters are A. breastfeeding had my cycles wonky and I OV early. Or B. gas S(which I have no other indicator of...) or C. I'm just crazy!~lol~ Gueess we'll just have to wait and see. I'm not sure when though. I haven't got in touch with the midwife we think we're going to use.

I am a little nervous about twins. I already have two children who are four months apart (one bio and one adopted). This pregnancy wasn't planned. I took a test four days before my period was due, because I had an idea. The test was so dark for being so early. Is that really an indicator?

HPT as an indicator for twins

I don't know if the dark line four days early is an indicator of twins! That's what i was questioning too. I was testing at least five days early and it was the same thing- the plus sign came up SO quickly and positively dark that i didn't believe it. I did another test a few hours later with the same result.
I also just have a feeling that it is twins, i don't know why. I'm waiting for a visit at 7 weeks with my midwife, but i don't even think she'll do a scan for some time after.
I'm getting serious round ligament pain already. I don't remember it that early last time.

My mom really seems to think I'm having twins because I'm showing so early (see the belly thread) and because her mom, my Grandma, had twins at my same age and it was her 4th pregnancy too. This is actually my 6th pregnancy but it will be my 4th DC.

I don't think I'm having twins. I just think I'm bigger because of all my pgs. But my mom is right alot of the time so we shall see..

I hope someone here has twins...I just want to know what it's like. I always thought I wanted twins..and now I can't imagine with a not quite 2 year old too! Defniatly would wean DD2!

I tested at 10 dpo and had a line that dark. I early testing with a darker line can be an indicator because your body would be making more hCG but I hadn't really considered it in my case.

Twins

I am in a similar boat, I got a very early positive. I think I ovulated on the 5the and had a pos. test (dark) on the 16th of July. The part that makes me think it might be more than one is that in my past two pregnancies, I have not gotten a pos home pregnancy test until like 18 days dpo. So I feel like in general my hcg has been super low.

Anyway, I am anxious to find out. I have also heard that the most twins are conceived in the month of July (has something to do with sunlight stimulating folicals). Also, there is some belief that as many as 1 in 8 pregnancies starts out as twins and at some point early on becomes a singleton pregnancy. It's all really facinating to me....
