First birth a homebirth? - Page 2

My first was a hospital birth 18 years ago. I wish I had known then what I know now. I have since birthed at home and wouldn't have it any other way.

My first birth was a homebirth, and I'm planning one for this upcoming birth as well. I had never pictured being anywhere else for birth, and my homebirth was absolutely incredible! My immediate family and my DH were very supportive, but I know my ILs and a few friends were freaked out/weirded out. Luckily they respected my decision enough to keep their comments to a minimum (either that or they knew what sort of debate they'd be in for if they challenged me- I knew the research up and down!).

I can't imagine birthing anywhere else short of a real emergency!

I'm also planning a homebirth for my first.

We're planning to have our first at home too!

I can't envision birthing in any other location.

DH is 100% supportive, and my family knows not to argue with us.

I would absolutely recommend a homebirth for a FTM. I think you're much more likely to have a positive experience that way, assuming you're seeking a natural birth.

I was planning an attended homebirth with #1, but when things went wonky with the HCP at 37 wks we decided to UC if we didn't find a midwife; we didn't find a midwife in time as I went into labor a week later. I ended up transferring to the hospital, which turned out okay since I only pushed for 25 min at the hospital and was done. Definitely planning a homebirth again this time.
