Not to be hater...but if you hate HP, come in!

I don't like Harry Potter AT ALL. I had to force myself to finish book one. I put it down, and eventually went back to it, but I was not impressed.

To me, it is no WRINKLE IN TIME! (My favorite children's book of all time...)

I tried to watch the first HARRY POTTER movie and it killed me. I fell asleep, woke up, fell asleep again. Magical music played in the background the whole time. So, the movie didn't do it for me either.

Am I alone in feeling like this? So many people love these books, and they leave me cold.

It's like being the only straight woman in America that doesn't find George Clooney sexy...

Avada Kedrava!

*does not find Clooney sexy in the slightest*

oh, thank Buddha-I have never gotten the appeal, and am so tired of hearing HP discussed wherever I go.

And I have tried to like it (I call HP it because to me it's a product.) I really have tried.

I can't say I hate Harry, but I am just so disinterested... I don't get the appeal at all.

I can't wait for Stardust!

Did someone say "George Clooney"? :

I LOVE Wrinkle in Time, and have never understood the attraction to George Clooney.

I do like the HP books, but I don't really care for the movies as much.

I'll get out now! :

Yeah, I don't get the mania either. I couldn't get into it.

Um, excuse me Thismama. Wasn't your location "waiting for my half blood prince" about 2 years ago?

I am not a HP hater but I don't like fantasy/scifi and there are too many other books/movies out there for me to waste my time on something that I am not a fan.

I haven't read any of the books (well, I take that back, I tried to read the first one, but couldn't get into it), haven't watched any of the movies although we own them on DVD.

I will be really glad when all the excitement dies down around the new movie and book.Today I counted nine threads on the first page of Book Discussions all about HP. It sucks to have to weed through them to find threads about other books.

I don't hate it. I like the movies alright but not enough to stand in line at midnight. I do not get the mania at all though. And don't even get me started on the fanaticism over the dude that plays HP.

He doesn't seem to act very well IMO. I just like watching Alan Rickman

I had lunch with Neil Gaiman once...he was lovely! Everything you would dream of in a favorite author. PLUS a friend of Tori Amos. I was in heaven.

I just don't get what all the fuss is about over HP. I've slogged through the first three books and I even *love* sci/fi and fantasy novels and I found these to be typical Young Adult fare. They weren't bad books but they certainly didn't deserve the mass obsession that has sprung up. I am an avid reader and I just think there is a lot of other really great fantasy fiction out there that is much better than HP (Sharon Shinn is excellent!).

Glad I am not alone!

Harry Hater checking in

funny story, my ex's name is Harry Parker and apparently someone at the phone company had a good chuckle at his expense ... when he would call me my caller ID said Harry Potter ~ this was around book 2 or 3

George Clooney does not = sexy

I do not find George Clooney the least bit attractive, nope, nope, nope.
