Okay, sorry to keep dumping on you guys, but here is my latest delema. Advice appreciated.
So we lost our Pacificare insurance when my husband lost his job. We've been waiting for a month to hear about Medi-cal and they just approved us for July and on. However, we both started working and have an income so our government assistance will change. I'm not sure how that will affect our county health plan, but I know it will somehow. I was seeing an OB and I filled out paperwork to see if I could keep him while on assistance, but he denied my waiver. With our Medi-cal, we had a choice between county health plan or a blue cross partnership. I went with county b/c I thought he would approve my waiver....but now since we wont my gut is telling me to switch to blue cross so I can go to Alta Bates in Berkeley which I've read is more "natural" friendly. My problem is that it'll take 15-30 days before they process my swtich to blue cross, and until then I can use the county plan, but....I called for a referal and when I called that doctor they said he wouldn't take me at 6 months without my records. So I called to have my records transfered over and my old OB wanted to charge me 15 bucks to copy my file (b/c its so thick aparently) Which sort of bothers me that he wont accept me b/c he doesn't accept medi-cal and they would still charge me 15 dollars.
Also I don't know if this doctor will only see me for a month or if I can find anyone else who will accept me at 7 month pregnant. Even if I do pay the 15 dollar fee and he takes me, then I switch to blue cross and maybe find another OB and pay another 15 bucks to have my file copied again, which seems pointless to me when we are just getting back on our feet financially. I really feel like all the OB's are just after my money and could care less about my situation. Do you think ANY midwife would take a woman with Gestational Diabetes this far into my pregnancy? ( I do have a history of hypertension/pre-clampsia and a previous c-section although I'm aiming for a vbac) And if so can anyone reccomend a place for me to find someone who has a good OB backup. I am cross posting this in various locations.
Honestly, I feel like even though I'm high risk, the fact that I'm having to stress about even finding an OB at this point, the risk is about the same as anything. I really feel like just not even going anymore, even though I know thats not too smart, b/c at least then I wouldn't be stressed out about it. I'd much rather give birth at home anyways and if western medicine is going to be like this with me....I don't know. Its been 2 months since I've seen anyone regarding my pregnancy now. But I havent' been able to find a doctor who will take me this late...and with the changes and stuff, by the time I get everything straightened out I'll already have the baby. Does this make sense?
