the movie "Kids"

i found it for a low price at target, so i picked it up...i'd never seen it, but it was filmed not long after i got to NYC, so i was interested in it from that aspect. i didn't really know what to expect, but it reminded me in some ways of "a clockwork orange." i liked the juxtaposition of the soundtrack with the action, and the opening was really well done. but the subject matter...disturbing to say the least. i think it will take a little while to process it. have you seen it? what do you think about it?

I saw this movie a long while ago and it disturbed me very much. I am amazed that the young man (boy) wrote and directed this film (IIRC?). Anyway, I thought about the movie a lot after I watched it because I couldn't get it out of my mind- not in a good way, either. Like you said, very disturbing, I can't really think of another word for it.

The guy that did "Kids" also did another extremely graphic, disturbing video within the past couple of years. I'm spacing on the name of it right now... but imagine my shock when my friend/boyfriend from my teenage years was one of the main characters in it

Ahhh, the role that got Chloe Sevigny her start! yup saw it when it first came out. Disturbing, but fairly accurate as far as I could tell. At least within a certain social world in NYC.

I saw it when it first came out too...disturbing, but I've loved Chloe Sevigny ever since!

I thought it was almost completely inauthentic. The characters were caricatures, to me, not genuine, complex people. Some cultural touches seemed accurate (I lived in NYC at the time, and was not too much older than these Kids), but that's about it.

I saw Kids in the theater when I was 16. I'm actually a fan of Harmony Korine... I enjoyed Julian Donkey Boy as well as Gummo, but, I had to skip over the first part of Gummo....extremely disturbing. I think the thing that I liked about Kids the most, though was the soundtrack. I still listen to it from time to time.
I can't really explain why I like his films...there is kind of an unexplainable connection or attraction/repulsion factor for me that is hard to define.

Was it Wassup Rockers? That's his most recent film, I think. Very good.
