What sling or carrier are you getting?

I am wondering what everyone else is planning on doing as far as babywearing goes?

I already have a mei tai and a couple of ring slings from DS that I plan to use again. I am really wanting a pouch this time around to try and I don't know which one to go with, either. I really would like an adjustable one because I am hard to size (very large chest so hard for fitted slings/pouches).

So what are you thinking of buying or making? or already have to use?

What a timely thread! I've just been researching this and making my list this weekend. My dream list has seven carriers on it. My "must have" list has four. I am an extreme novice when it comes to sewing, so I don't really trust myself to make something trustworthy enough to carry my baby around in just yet. Maybe after I finish the cloth napkins and cloth grocery bags on my "to sew" list

Here's what I want:
Kangaroo Korner adjustable fleece pouch
Karma Baby solarveil pouch
Gypsy Mama BaliBaby Breeze wrap
Moby wrap
BabyHawk MeiTai
The Cat's Meow Onbuhimo
Beco Baby Carrier

The first four are neccessities, though I would probably not need the Gypsy Mama wrap for a few months. The asian baby carriers are guilty pleasures, and the beco is for when we go camping and hiking every summer.

I will be buying a microfleece peanut shell pouch. I had one with dd and LOVED it. I'll most likely be getting a jersey knit ring sling and a mei tai as well.

I already have a Babyhawk, a pouch and a wrap. I am thinking about buying a Gypsymama Water wrap, but that has nothing to do with the new baby. I think wraps are all a person really needs, although I do looooooooove my Babyhawk.

All I had with my first two (that I actually used) was a New Native pouch. I like it, but know I need something different with this one. I'm thinking a nonpadded ring sling (I hated the padded one I had) but I'm not sure what to go with.

I'm planning on going sling shopping after my u/s this week. We have a cool store in Memphis that sells them and I bet I can get some good advice on what to get.

I have a ring sling, Ergo, and a frame-type backpack carrier (forget the brand at the moment) from my daughter. I haven't completely decided, but I think I'm going to go for another sling (always useful to have an extra stashed around) and a Mei Tei. The Mei Teis are just so pretty I am hoping to treat myself to one.

Of all the carriers I have, I love my hotsling best for an infant. I got my babyhawk when my daughter was about a year so I've never tried it with an infant - I'm interested to see how that works out.

I have an Ergo and a New Native that I used with my boys, and so far for the new baby I've gotten a Moby Wrap and a really cute Hotsling. I REALLY wanted the Moby and got that and the Hotsling I was able to get for 50% off so I figured why not. Right now I don't think I need any other kind until the baby is older, there is a spa I used to work at the one of the owners made a Mei Tai type carrier and I'd like to get one of those, I have a gift card I'd got for it, but I just have to drive out there and get one.

I'll probably make or buy another pouch sling

I sold off most of my carriers last year, but I still have an Ergo and a solarveil rs. I just bought a BBO (Ball Baby Overalls) mt and I want a Moby and a pouch. I haven't really decided what brand. Maybe a Hotsling or Peanut shell from Target so they will carry more of them!
I also will probably get a Babyhawk with a headrest.

so far I will just have the ring slings. My friend is going to teach me how to make them. Other than that I haven't really thought about it.

I'm currently awaiting my dream mei tai. It's black with red dragonfly print. It's a babyhawk with a headrest. In a month or so I'm ordering a turquoise Moby wrap. I currently own a NOJO and I like it- but only for so long a time period before it hurts one shoulder.

Hopefully I'll be happy after that.

I have a Kangaroo Korner adjustable fleece pouch that I got when dd#1 was a newborn, and I got a Kozy Carrier (like a Mei Tai) a little later, when she was 15 months old.

The KKAFP is so easy to use, I love it (just pop her in, pop her out). It's also great in COLD Minnesota winters! I'm not sure how I'd like it if I lived in Florida though, because in July it is a little hot to wear. But in winter it was a life-saver...I could just keep dd inside it, and put my coat on around us both, and she stayed very warm and cozy. I have great memories of my sweet little newborn cozy with my in the pouch!

It was harder for me to get the hang of the Kozy, but I also haven't had it as long. We'll see with this baby which one I use more. I love the Kozy I have, I just need more practice.

I have a Moby, ring sling, a couple pouch slings, and a Patapum, but I dream of getting a Beco - they are sooo beautiful. I'm hoping to make a mei tai for this babe, but honestly, with ds, the pouch and Moby were our lifesaving infant carriers.

I have a few but I need a new Ergo because mine is dead - it was well used before i got it.
I'm getting a carrier from http://www.backwoodsbabies.com and hopefully a pouch but I am not sure which brand or anything yet.

I have a Maya wrap ring sling, & love it like crazy. I have NO IDEA how I functioned without it with my other 2 kids! This time though, I think I'll want a wrap. A Moby or Didymos maybe. I think I'll really want the newborn strapped securely to me so I can use both arms, bend over, pick up & otherwise be active with & care for my toddler (he'll be 25 mos).

That's exactly what turned me onto the idea of a wrap. I just didn't understand them until I saw one demonstrated. Such a cool device!

Hmmm.. Babycarriers! One of my addictions and I am looking so much forward to jump on it again!

With my last baby I got to try A LOT of different carriers and found out what works best for me (have bought and sold dozens -- and also tried many in NINO meetings). I find that it was good to have different carriers for different jobs, but if I only had 1, it would be a woven wrap.

I am primarily a wrapper and Didymos is my favorite wrap in the world! What a joy and comfort to wear one - totally worth every cent! Other wraps I like are Girasol, Bebina and Easycare.

Meitais are nice to have later on, but I won't be using one when the baby is very tiny. My favorite ones are: Baby Hawk (tall and short), Freehand, Napsack and Sachi. There are some European ones I am curious to try too.

A water pouch was another ESSENTIAL thing for me last time - what a life saver!! I have Hotsling pool pouch and it is wonderful.

I may or may not use a regular pouch or ring sling -- it will depend on the baby. Some babies prefer the cradle carry and that is easier in a one-shoulder carrier IME.

Stretchy wraps like the Moby are fantastic, specially if one is not used to wrapping, but I will be skipping them this time and use only a soft flanelly Didymos instead - I ADORE my Laura Didy!! yum!!!

If I post here do I get to buy another Didymos? Just kidding. But really, a wrap is all we used with Hanae, and I'm relishing the thought of a winter baby all wrapped up cozy come December. There's nothing like it for ease and warmth and comfort. Ahhh.

Can one ever have enough Didymos?

Yes, I am so excited about having a winter baby - just so I can wear him/her nice and cozy without worrying about over heating (like I did with my last, born in the Spring)
