So, what do you have left to do?

Our babies will be here in a matter of weeks!!! What's left on everyone's baby to-do lists?

Mine . . .
*order diapers
*decide which wrap to get and order it
*gather birth supplies in one spot
*start keeping video camera charged
*buy 2nd bedrail (will have 2 LO's in bed with us)
*decide what to tie the cord with

Hopefully by next week we'll have everything completely ready! I'm getting so excited now that it's so close.

I have everything, I just need to wash my baby's clothes, towels and blankets. I'm not sure when to do it though. I'm close to 37 weeks, so I guess I should start soon!

i need to:
  • talk to people about childcare
  • pack my birth bag
  • make up my list of phone #'s
  • get a long distance card for phoning from the hospital
  • get cash and take-out menus for after the birth
  • pack my homebirth kit (in case)
  • find the receiving blankets, i know they're around...
  • find out dh's work number...

i'm just really not ready. and i feel like the baby's coming any day now. so maybe i should get moving...

Oh lord. I feel so way behind.

I need to get my birthing supplies
Need to line up childcare for DD during the birth
Need to get the "dresser" for baby out of the basement & put away clothes
Buy some newborn diapers for the meconium stage

Decide if I'm going to have the tests (nst/us) that the doctor wants me to. :

All I have left to do is give birth. I have never been so ready for a baby before.

mommysusie - I am impressed. Congrats!

I still need to
* send off my life insurance paperwork,
* strip diapers,
* order a dozen infant CPF,
* get car seat installed,
* find a porch swing

So the last item isn't really "for the birth," but I have these crazy nesting urges and keep feeling like everything in my house has to be ready before the baby comes. Apparently, this includes the backyard. It does sound nicer to swing outside while nursing LO and watching DS play instead of sitting on the ground or in one of our armless cafe chairs.

Thanks! I bought the very last thing that I needed last night which were my nightgowns to wear while I am in the hospital. I went home, put them in my bag and said "There, I am ready to have this baby now!" Even Hubby's bag is packed too.

Still have to pick up some fabric to make a wrap or sling (or buy one off craigslist), and some Lansinoh, and bug my sister to send me some of the cute hooded towels that she makes. Also need to seriously stockpile food for the home birth team and after the birth (I know I will starve to death if I have to rely on my husband's cooking!) And am trying to read through the entire 750-page Dr. Sears Baby Book, since this is our first baby and we don't have a clue what we are going to do with her once she's out. Nesting instinct is also finally starting to kick in, and I desperately want to clean out our closets and go through all our papers and throw tons of things away to make more space for the baby and her things, including getting rid of some furniture. It may sound morbid, but my husband and I also bought a do-it-yourself will kit, so we could designate a guardian for the baby in case anything happens to us, and we are almost done with our wills.

Oh yeah, and we also have to figure out how to install our car seat! It seems extremely complicated. And maybe get together a few things for a hospital bag just in case our planned homebirth doesn't go as planned and we have to transfer to the hospital.

i'm ready!! well ok.. i still need to buy some lanolin but other than that i'm ready. sunday was 37 weeks for me.. so someone let this little one know she's free to come out anytime!

Umm, everything!:

I sewed 3 fitted newborn dipes and 3 fitted small dipes. I've knitted all the small wool diaper covers and was given an infant car seat and a bunch of baby clothes. I have most of my birth kit for the homebirth put together. I also have a ring sling and moby wrap, but that is it!

I need to *wash the baby clothes
*buy (or hopefully receive as gifts) a bunch of prefolds and wash them
*get pretty much any remaining cloth diapering supplies (wipes, doublers, etc.)
*get a co-sleeper
*get the infant car seat repair kit for the recalled handle and then get that seat installed in dh's car
*make some frozen meals
*wash towels for birth kit
*finish the hypnobirthing book and practice A LOT more
*finish the Sears Baby Book (not even close to being done)
*go on a few nice dates with dh
*do a whole bunch of other things that I just can't even think of right now.

Wow, I'm glad I'm not the only one with lots still to do!

*Buy diapers from local supplier on Wed.
*Finish birth plan
*buy lots of odds and ends, like a diaper bucket(garbage can)
*Wash all diapers and some clothes
*Figure out what laundry detergent and wipes solution I'll be using
*Pack as much of my house as I can (We're moving on September 30)

So maybe not as much as I feel sometimes! I think it's just trying to get this stuff done on top of cleaning my apt. and still working.... Oh well we'll get there in the end!

Lots for me left to do...

*install car seat (probably won't be done until after I am at the hospital. DH wants the backseat of the car free "just in case" I have to birth back there : He is VERY nervous about me not wanting to go to the hospital until later in labor).
* wash baby linens and clothing
* pack hospital bags
* make birthing music CDs
* DH and I need to make wills : (can't believe we haven't done this)
* Complete maternity leave paper work (again, can't believe I haven't done this yet!)
* Hospital tour (TG this is scheduled - we go next Saturday)
* Write out birth plan
* Hang curtains in baby room
* Choose & purchase curtains for baby room
* Install ceiling fan in baby room
* Get glider fixed (it was broken during delivery, but DH was the one who met the delivery guys and he failed to notice it was broken. Now stupid BRU will not accept responsibility, nor will the delivery people. VERY aggrevating)
* Buy maxi pads
* Buy Pack N Play, PNP sheets, set it up in our bedroom
* Charge digital camera
* Find a pediatrician

I'm still waiting for the birth kit I ordered over 2 weeks ago! I'm calling today. At home I still have to:

Wash and install infant car seat
Put clean baby clothes away
Get changing table ready
Pack my stuff for the birthing center

I feel sooooooo diorganized!
post #15 of 20
-buy some empty spritz bottles of decent quality (the ones i got stopped working within 2 weeks)

-print final drafts of in-case-of-transfer birth plan and power of attorney

-pack bag just in case of transfer

-my FIL is building me a little table based on the specs i drew, so that I will have a shelf near the changing table for changing supplies. our walls are too flimsy to attach a shelf.

-my father is re-doing the seat on my rocking chair

-figure out what i did with those mesh panties i ordered for after the birth and put them someplace practical.

-i want to give the floor a super cleaning one more time

-my parents are buying an extra car (used from a close friend) and plan to park it near where i live so we can have use of it in case of emergency. I want to install the car seat in it and get it inspected.

All right. I should stop looking at this thread b/c everyone else reminds me of some other "thing to do" that I have forgotten on my list. Yikes, its getting a little scary that there's so much to do!
post #17 of 20
I have a list that is three pages long. However, I feel I'm getting very close, so I asked my husband to make a list of what things we need and what we need to do. Here's what he wrote

to-do
pack bag for Claire to go to Carla's (sheesh, I feel stupid, that wasn't even on my 3 page list)
pack labor bag
pack hospital bag

needed
boobs
diapers
baby clothing
love

Everything on the 'needed' list is crossed out. So, ummm, guess I just need to pack those bags. My husband is very good at putting things in perspective for me And at reminding me of overlooked details.

Eeek, we've been on vacation for most of July, and its been great, but I'm anxious to get home and cross some things off my to do list!!! I dont know if I can even think of everything right now, but here's what comes to mind -

prep wash diapers
fnish crocheting a few more wool covers (buy a soaker pattern and try to make some soakers)
bring up changing table and organize it
buy wicker baskets the right size for the bottom shelf of it
wash all the baby clothes and put them away in the dresser
buy some long sleeve lap t's since we're doing cloth diapers this time around - I'm thinking all the onesies aren't going to work as well, especially with all the wool I'm going to use - eek, where can I find these? (seperate post I guess)
pack Lucy's bag for Grandmas
pack my stuff for hospital
type of addresses for birth announcements (I just typed these into a word doc last time and then printed them off onto address labels - made it so easy to send out the announcements!)
um... I'm sure there's more?? ...going to go freak out now...
post #19 of 20
-Finish packing labour bag
-buy maxi pads and a few other minor things
-finish unpacking baby stuff from the basement and air it out/wash it (clothes are done, just need carseat, bassinette, and anything else I find down there!)
-buy wetbag/diaper pail - I am switching to CD since doing strictly disposables with ds. I've also begun switching him to CD.
-rearrange my bedroom so the nightstand and alarm clock are on dh's side and I can put bassinette and rocking chair on my side
-make meals to freeze. Clean out my freezer.
-paperwork for mat leave (can't do that until mat leave actually starts)
-STOP WORKING
-sleep, rest, meditate
