Gelatinous Mucous/Discharge

So, for the past day or two, I've been having sporadic discharge/mucous that is really gelatinous--thick, sticky, clearish-yellow, and a little lumpy--like stirred-up jello. It's just small amounts, like maybe a dime to quarter in size each time, but I've never had this before, and I've been more crampy than usual. Could this be part of my mucous plug? Or something else?

Sounds like your plug, mama!

I have had that too for about 2 weeks now. For me I don't think it is signaling labor!

Probably part of your plug - could be indicating some cervical softening/dilating, but not necessarily an indication of labor...

Melissa~ I have never experienced that but I would guess it's the beginning of your mucus plug! I hope things happen for you soon.
I was wondering if you got the couple of PM's I sent you. I was thinking you were just busy. I hope so. Good to hear from you. Take care!

Sounds like mucus plug to me, too... but last time I lost mine after my membranes were swept, so it looked like a HUGE snot globule about the length of my finger. Sorry about the TMI:

I had that about a week ago. Even had some blood in some of it. I had a bunch of other labor signs, too. Since then, I've had nothing. Still no baby.

I had that for about a week before going into labor. Stuff is happening. It's all good.

I'm actually SO glad to read this right now. I just had a bit of pink tinged mucus and I felt my hopes surge up up up. And I'm much better off NOT having my hopes up.

Also, I was reading this snip earlier and found the distinction between "increased eggwhite discharge" and "bloody show" (pink tinged mucus is different from bloody show - mainly, I think, as an issue of quanitity) to be informative.

6. Increased vaginal discharge. You may notice more egg white or pink- tinged vaginal discharge. This differs from the "bloody show."

7. Bloody show. The combination of baby's head descending into the pelvic cavity and the prelabor contractions thinning the cervix can "uncork" the mucus plug that previously sealed the cervix. The consistency of this mucus varies from stringy to thick and gooey. Some women notice the one-time passing of an obvious mucus plug; others simply notice increased blood-tinged vaginal discharge. Some of the tiny blood vessels in your cervix break as your cervix thins, so you may see anything from a pink to a brownish-red-tinged teaspoonful of bloody mucous. If your discharge shows more blood than mucus – like a menstrual period or a lot of bright-red blood -- report this to your practitioner immediately. Once you notice a bloody show, you are likely to begin labor within three days, but some mothers hang on for another week or two.
In fact, this is a great article about the ninth month.

So, I had the same thing last night--no sweeping of membranes, though--I was just standing in the kitchen! Before last night it had just been a little bit each time, but this was MUCH more. I guess things are happening--I just really want them to get going a little faster. No bloody show, though, so the wait continues...
