Groceries? - Page 2

We are a family of 4 (2 adults 1 of which is an athlete & should eat more, 1 very picky 3.5 yr old & 1 10mo just starting solids) & we spend about $300 a month. We are vegetarian. We buy all fruit & veg from local farmers markets. The rest comes from TJ's or the local health food store & the occasional trip to Winco or the 99 cent store. I will say that we do eat out about 2-3x a week (lunch or dinner) that is not included in that amount, but that is probably going to end real soon as we can no longer afford it :

We are a family of 4 and we spend about $300, this is down from $400. More made from scratch food, less impulsive buys, and less unnecessary junk food. Unfortunately we also have cut out organic milk and eggs and now use regular-hopefully that will be VERY temporary though.

WOW you ladies are awesome. All the cooking and frugal shopping. My dh just took over the bills (: ) and is trying to reduce our family of 4 food bill to 150 a week!
We had been spending close to $800 a month so he says. i never keep track but i do know it is our highest expense after the mortgage. I shop at Whole Foods and Trader's mostly. I guess we need to try and cut down even more, it's just so hard when 'good' food is so spendy! And we dont have space for much of a garden.. Need to make it to the farmer's market more i guess!
