pretending today is the day

Sometimes I wonder if I don't make my babies come late just because I am not ready mentally or even have everything in order as well as I want it. So I decided to try and treat today like my baby is coming TODAY. I started telling myself this yesterday. I put finishing touches on my birth plan and posted it in the family room. I packed my little girls bag for while I'm in labor. This morning I bought lots of fresh fruit and I'm just cleaning up and planning like labor has started but is tolerable so I'm doing last minute stuff. I even have planned to make a birthday cake for my son today. Mostly my list for today is just cooking and cleaning and making sure I don't exhaust myself so I have energy to birth. I'm trying to eat lots of fresh fruit and some high fiber homemade bread too though. I figure if I get sick that doesn't sound like too bad a thing to get sick on and it also might help keep my bowels moving often which I'm hoping can help labor along.

We'll see how it goes. If my little guy doesn't agree with my plan I'll just have to schedule a labor inducing massage for tomorrow and eat a big piece of the yummy cake I'm making today! I think there is a chance that all I really need to get labor started though is tell myself its time and I'm ready.

Today's the day!

Hope it works for you! I've done that the past 3 days in a row (including putting the birth bag in the car when we were on our way out somewhere), and nothing yet... I'm getting a little tired of acting like it could happen any second, actually. But maybe for you it will actually work!

Well today is not the day. I mean I think I could start labor before midnight but I don't think he will arrive before then. I do feel like I had more contractions today though than before. And I have had a good day. I just ate some of his birthday cake too! MAYBE he'll arrive before its finished.

We have storms coming through tonight and I feel good about things even if I wake up in the morning with no signs of labor. But I do feel more mentally prepared for it to happen anytime too. So its been a good day!

i love your plan and am sending you sweet labor vibes.
(also, i kept meaning to get back to the homebirth thread and say that i, too, had a lovely, lovely, homebirth with a hemmorage and this time around i had a lovely, lovely homebirth without a hemmorage and i'm wishing the same for you.)
happy birthing, mama!

oops - it's not the day - that's what happens when you start a post and then finish it seven hours later....
well here's hoping it's TODAY then.
fingers crossed.
