Although I've barely posted in this ddc I just wanted to share this news with you as well as her birthstory.
Maya was born on her due date on July 10th at 8am, weighing in at 8 lbs 14 oz. and was 20.5 inches long... a big baby girl.
I had a blood show on Monday morning which was then followed by irregular contractions all day. After trying to rest all day (which is hard work with a 4 year old dd) my contractions got pretty intense after dinner but were still irregular. Tried sleeping and then a bath but contractions continued... I wasn't keen on birthing through the night like i did with dd1. At 1am we decided to go to the hospital. My dh wasn't so convinced since we laboured for 16 hours in the hospital with dd1, but i felt like it was time. Once I was in the car my contractions picked up and as a consequence it took us forever to get to the hospital.
Once there the midwife checked me out and I was only 2 cm! I was disappointed but tried to be positive. I progressed rather quickly to 5-6 cm and then went into the tub. I thought the tub would help as it did for my other dd. I entered into transition in the tub but did not really progress. I had major contractions but without dilation. After being in the tub for a while I decided to come out (even though i really wanted a waterbirth).
Once out, things started moving again. After a long time of pushing, she was born at 8am in the morning. She started nursing just about right away and never stopped...
We've been in love ever since...
Now we are starting a new adventure in tandem nursing!
