Water

I haven't been posting at all lately, but I really wanna get involved with the DDC again. :

Question about fluids: is anyone else having trouble with their water intake? Do you think it matters if it's other fluids besides water that we're drinking?

And how much water should I be drinking? For some reason, even sips of water make me feel nauseous.

Thanks!

I'm drinking between 48-64oz of water a day. (6-8cups)

All fluids (besides caffeinated fluids, which would dehydrate you) count towards your overall fluid intake. When they say "8cups of water a day" they really mean 8cups of hydrating fluid.

I was drinking close to 96 oz/day when I was working, but have completely slacked in the water department since summer break started. I strive for 64 oz/day, but most days think I'm still coming up short. Sorry - I don't know about other fluids. I've been fortunate that water has never been hard for me to drink.

I am drinking 72-96oz of water/day. I don't count other fluids because I tend to drink too much juice/milk and not enough water and end up with headaches. Remember if you are drinking RRL tea that it is drying and shouldn't count towards your total intake. In fact, you should probably drink a little more water to make up for it. At least, that's what I do.

As far as the nausea, I had that in my first tri whenever I tried to drink plain water. Adding a spoonful of lemon/lime juice helped immensely.

How is RRL tea drying? Its just red raspberry leaves steeped in water.

Yep, forgot to factor that in, in my post.
I drink 2 cups of RRL tea, therefore drink an extra 2 cups of water, which cancels them out. So I may be drinking 80oz of water, but it factors down to 64oz.

I ought to drink more, I seem to get dehydrated easily. (I'm still barely hanging on to nursing my toddler. Oo my supply. )

ETA: I was under the impression it was caffeinated, but apparently not (thanks google!) I'm not sure then, you'll have to ask Sihaya - but I do know I crave lots of water afterwards, as if I were drinking a cup of joe.

Oy, I think I'm just going to have to try harder then.

I am drinking RRL tea (even though I'm having a cesarean) because it's still good for your uterus, kwim?

It may help me to just fill a jug in the morning and set it on the counter. I prefer my water room temp., and seeing it there should remind me to sip more.

I'm not exactly understanding why "just red raspberry leaves" can't be drying. That specific plant is astringent, which simply means it is naturally drying.

Nope, not caffiene, just the natural property of that plant.

I honestly don't know very much about RRL tea and what little I know is from the super-long Red Raspberry Leaf Tea tribe thread that I have only skimmed. My "RRL is drying" source is this post.

OK, I was only wondering because a lot of people assume when you say "tea" that it means black tea which has caffeine and is therefore a diuretic.

I struggle some days. I have a 32oz water bottle and it makes it SO much easier to know I only have to drink two of them. Sometimes I drink 3...other days, if I don't start in the morning, I might only get through one. When water was making me nauseous, I squeezed half a lemon in the bottle when it was full. That also really helped. It actually made it enjoyable.

I usually have a bottle or a glass around & in order to keep it easy, I try to drink about 8oz every hour. That way I can get in at least 80-100oz, allowing for forgetfulness, but I don't end up feeling bloated. We're in a very humid climate & I spend a bit of my day walking or biking, plus working out, so I don't mind drinking so much. Sorry, it doesn't make me nauseous, so I can't help w/that.

I'm not good with the water either.

Actually, I wouldn't recommend what I do, but I drink flavored seltzer or non fizzy water with artificial sweetners in it. I water down the non-fizzy kind. My last two pg's I drank mostly diluted juice, but I'm trying hard to control my sugar intake and my weight gain and it was good for neither. I also drink OJ and milk and usually at least one or two glasses of "real" water.

Alot of times I don't pay enough attention and then realize I haven't had enough to drink and it's 7 p.m. and I'm thirsty...then I'm up 4 times to pee in the night!

Christa that's exactly what's happening to me too!

It'll be eight o'clock, and I'm putting dd to bed and then I remember my shoddy water intake, and guzzle two or three glasses over a half hour.

Of course I'm up all damn night, and plus it makes me nauseous, etc.
