Can't believe I gave away all our baby stuff

We were in a small place up until the girls were 19-months & there wasn't much room to store stuff. Also, the girls were so much work that I was sure we would never have another baby. Also, it took a lot of fertility treatments to get me PG with the girls & DH refused to do IVF again, so I figured we were going to be a family of four.

As soon as they outgrew stuff, I got rid of it. Gave away infant car seats. Sold nice small Fuzzi Bunz diapers. Gave away toys, books, clothes.

I have to start all over with this baby after having so much baby stuff. :

I am still kickng myself for getting rid of some of the stuff.

Just venting.

That's really tough. I know someone who did that. You've got time though, I'll just say prayers you can get all that you want very reasonably priced. It's hard buying things we've gotten rid of before when we are probably more frugile than most people.

we always get rid of everything. i believe that you will reap as you have sown. Whether or not you believe in the Bible, priciples run true so I am sure it will be that way for you.

We never got rid of anything, because I know we are having a bunch of kids, but I have SOOO many friends who got rid of everything, like to friends, and they always got stuff given to them by their friends when they needed them again. Kinda like circulating stuff. Do you have any friends with kids you can borrow stuff from?

After #1 DH didnt want anymore kids so I got rid of EVERYTHING when it was outgrown so 5 years later when he changed his mind and wanted 6 we had to start over again! now preg w/ #3 I saved everything from DD but will have no clothes if its a boy not until hes like 4-5 though

I got rid of everything too, mostly to afford other things, but also because in the beginning we weren't planning on trying again until dd was 5 or so. We started trying when she was 9 months old. :x I've been kicking myself for selling things for a year now. But, it means I get to buy the diapers I know I like instead of just using what I had. And I get to buy my perfect sling(s) instead of just dealing with the ones I have...so I can't complain too much.

I got rid of all of our stuff, too. Literally gave the last away about a week before I tested positive. It was totally unexpected. Of course I gave stuff to some family who said they wanted to TTC again and they would pay us...but I have yet to see the money and I think they sold it all. *sighs*

I gave away everything too. My mom jokes that that is a sure way of getting pregnant again.

I kid you not- we only planned on having 2. We had a girl and a boy, but held onto the stuff for about a year 'just in case'. Finally had decided we were done, got rid of the stuff- not 2 weeks later found out I was pg! INSANE.

I hear ya! I had run a home child care business for 4yrs- I had a HUGE play room full of preschool toys & games & extra clothes & books & baby toys, etc. Then I met dh, we planned to move in together just a few mos later, & I was to close my day care (that I was burnt out on). So, in preparation for moving in with dh, whom I'd only known a few mos (but knew I was going to spend my life with), I got rid of a TRUCK load plus a garage sale's worth of baby & preschooler stuff. My thinking was, "I'm not going to have a baby with this man just yet, that would be crazy, right? Plus, I don't want to scare him to death by moving in with 20 boxes of baby stuff when my kids are like 7 & 13 yrs old!" So, away went almost everything. About 5 mos later, we decided to TTC.

I have been KICKING myself ever since!! Here I am lusting after all the Maisy videos at the stores & thinking "D'OH! I HAD the entire Maisy video collection & got rid of it!!" Along with all the great toys & books, etc. I hate to even think about all the great stuff I got rid of that ds would love right now.

So. Lemme tell ya, I hear your pain!!

I got rid of all my baby stuff, too, but I"m not kicking myself for it! We don't have room to store it on our small house. I kept the baby bed and the pack-n-play, and I still have the stroller b/c we can still use it. All clothes, diaper, ect. were sold. I gave my boppy to a friend (who is supposed to give it back now that I"m PG) and I really feel good about that decision. This time I plan to get different things than I had before and I also want to really scrutinize each purchase and make sure it is what we want/need b/c we just do not have the extra room in this house, especially now that we are expecting twins! I may get my swing back from my brother, but I may just decide it was too big to begin with and only get a small one or a bouncer. There was no room for my highchair! My mom's neighbor has it and I"m sure I can get it back if/when I need it! I made the best decision I could at the time, and honestly I am glad I have not had to pack and stack all of that baby stuff the last 2 years! Garage sales and consignment stores will get me plenty, and I'll get plenty of clothes as gifts, I'm sure. I bought my diapers or rather most of them, cheaply second hand. I didn't want to wear those same old maternity clothes I wore my first two pregnancies, plus this one was a different season, so it's really okay to get rid of it all! You can always get it back! Ask friends adn family for what you need

I've never gotten rid of anything. Not that I've ever had a chance. We only bought a convertible car-seat for DD#1 because DD#2 needed the infant seat... and it looks like we'll be buying a booster seat for DD#1 this time around not because she's grown out of the convertible, but because DD#2 needs the convertible only because baby #3 needs the infant seat.

My kids are really small so they fit into things for quite a while, and they're close enough together that the next kid is ready for clothing and things almost before the older one is ready to give them up.

I think I've gotten rid of maybe 5 things total from both boys. I am such a saver and I knew even tho dh said no more we would have more sometime or any of our sisters would have kids.

I gave away all of my stuff as well, but I'm finding that people are giving me as much as I need. You just have to be honest when people ask you if you need anything.

i always give away everything. i also know we're having a bunch of kids (baby #6 is due in Dec) but i happened to have saved stuff from one kid to another once and regretted it- i got so sick of looking at it. so now we get rid of everything, and things just happen to come back to us every time, we never want for anything.

ok- so technically i never give away cloth diapers or baby wraps/slings/carriers
