Any other HBAC/VBAC mamas around?

Anyone else planning a VBAC/HBAC/WBAC?

Panthira, I think I remember that you are, but anyone else? How's it going? The waiting is excruciating for me!

I'm one of the HWBACers. I haven't been thinking much of my VBACer status and honestly don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. The fact that I had a preterm babe last time has been way more influential on my brain wankery this time, frankly. I feel like I am way "overdue" when really I am just..."just"...39 weeks.

I am anxious to get in the birth tub/kiddie pool and float!

I just had my second VBAC. Both were awesome experiences, although this last one was much better than the first. I agree with the pp though, I didn't really give it too much thought beforehand. I just knew in my mind that it was going to go well and I would be successful. I know the waiting is hard. Hang in there and I hope everything goes well for you!

That's right, I am, though this will be my third VBAC (1st HVAC) and I don't even consider myself one much anymore. :

I'm also planning my third VBAC (second HBAC). I'd like to forget all about my status as a VBACer, but this state with its paranoid medicos and legislation doesn't make it easy. The hoops I'm jumping through to make this happen again are very frustrating.

Well I have attempted Vbac once ( with my son ) and Ive been having contractions( irregular) part of me is hoping my water breaks and things move quickly and I might get my VBAC afterall

It sounds like everyone is doing great. The reason I started this thread is that I haven't been thinking much about the VBAC issue, either--I keep forgetting that it "supposed" to be a "big deal" (at least in the allopathic medical community). Good to see that I'm not alone and that I'm not just being cocky or idealistic by believing that everything will go well.

Hello there... I am planning on a VBAC, too! I am really psyched, and hope all goes well for all of us. Today is my actual EDD, so we will see... good thoughts and hugs especially to all of you mamas.

VBACing here as well

My EDD is Monday and the closer it gets, the more nervous I get. I'm not looking forward to any pressure from the OB to be induced. He was really very cool about my birth plan though, so I think it will be fine

I do think it's important to keep our VBAC status in mind. It's important to pay attn to our bodies while in labor, not let anyone induce (never have an induction when you are a VBAC!). Remember you have rights and you can refuse to be treated in any way that might compromise your VBAC birth. I left the hospital against medical advice for my first VBAC, because my water had broken and they want to put me on continuous monitoring and an IV right away at only 3cm dilated. I didn't give birth till 48 HOURS later. I can just imagine what would have happened if I had listened to the medical staff, but I didn't and I got my VBAC baby by all natural birth. Hear me roar!

Got a slap in the face today. Doc isn't planning to induce me, he wants to schedule a repeat c-section because today's my EDD and I haven't had any cervical changes and the baby isn't engaged at all.

I don't blame him for not wanting to induce, because given the choice between chemical induction and a repeat c, I think a repeat c would be safer. What makes me angry is that he doesn't want to give me until 42 weeks to let things happen on their own.

please mama, remember, its YOUR body and YOUR baby, NOT HIS. he is not god. you do NOT have to go in for a repeat.
i am NOT suggesting an induction. but i am suggesting you let your body do its thing.
and ignore the c-section pushing OB.

I agree COMPLETELY with AddysMama. Do not do anything you don't feel comfortable doing! Any decent OB should know that the EDD is a window of time with at least 2 weeks of leeway on either side. Sounds like he's leery of VBACs in general and just making excuses. Trust your gut and your body and do what feels right for you and your baby.

Thanks, ladies.

He's been really supportive so far, but him turning on me yesterday felt like history repeating itself - very similar to how the doctor who deliver DS was: so cool until the last minute and then intervention-intervention-intervention. It's how I ended up with a section in the first place!:

Anyway, I still need to talk to my doula - we've been playing phone tag all morning. I will refuse a c-section until at least 42 weeks, though. And I'll do EFM or whatever else he wants in the meanwhile.

Congrats to all you mamas who've been successful - I'm jealous, but also very inspired

I'm going to the chiropractor today - he can do the Webster technique so hopefully that will get her in a more favorable position.

Then tomorrow I'm seeing an acupuncturist...I'm really hoping/planning for a baby before my next OB appointment. Maybe the next time I see him, he'll be catching my kid

: Keeping my fingers crossed for you that something works and you get the VBAC you want!

And, I hope its at an extremely inconvenient time for him! :

Seriously, it sounds like the only true reason he's wanting to schedule your c-section is because he can't schedule you for induction... and God knows he probably doesn't want a patient coming in 'off the schedule'... *sigh*

Stick to your guns mama, you can have your VBAC.

for everyone attempting VBAC's!!

Thanks, ladies!

The chiropractor did a hip adjustment and the Webster technique. I swear I feel her lower when I walk - something is rubbing somewhere it didn't before...if that makes sense

I'm seeing him again tomorrow and then off to acupuncture...planning to hole up on the birth ball with my breast pump over the weekend!
