Anyone else had this??

I was in the shower this morning and noticed that my labia seemed rather swollen and puffy, but not at all painful. Does this mean anything??

I think I may have passed the tiniest bit of mucus plug yesterday too. I'll be 39 weeks on Friday, which is the point where DS was born...

I think the swollen labia is just related to it being a little harder to get blood flow thanks to our big tummies.

Just saw my midwife and mentioned this, and she said yes, it is all the weight and pressure causing a lack of blood flow. Nothing to worry about, and it doesn't mean anything significant. And incidentally, it's more common when mama is due in the hot summer months!

Yeah, swollen/engorged labia are just a part of pregnancy for many women. I'm definitely noticing it, too. There's a chapter in Jenny McCarthy's "Baby Laughs" book where she describes looking at her "stuff" with a hand mirror and being horrified to discover that everything was veiny and swollen--like "two blue Twinkies." Ick and TMI, but kinda funny.

Yeah - they certainly are even more ugly while pregnant, esp very pregnant like most of us
