No more GBS worries!

Hooray! I went to the doctor's today and she asked me _if_ I wanted to swab for GBS. She said that if I don't want an IV in labour (which I don't, infact I don't really want to be at the hospital that early at all!) than she just won't swab me. Because then they will treat me with antibiotics IF I have a fever during labour or if my water is broken for a long time (Like 24 hours...). Other than that, no problems!

: : : :

I've been worrying myself SICK about this! I'm sooooooo relieved that this is no longer an issue. After my panic attack during our birth class I don't want to stay at the hospital longer than I have to. So excited!

yay for you!

boo for me. my dr didn't give me the option and then i tested positive. but. like you i don't want to go to the hospital early anyway, so at least that'll be LESS time they have me hooked up to stuff. blah.

Sorry to hear that. I wish my doctor could be everyone's doctor. Especially today.

That's awesome! I wish my MW would have given me the option, but she didn't and I tested positive. Ugh.

Question, how long has your birthing hosptial/center/midwife been testing for GBS? Apparently, my local hospital only started two years ago, which is why my doctor was so blase about it. She acutally said "why would they make you? Two years ago we wouldn't have." So that may also be a factor.
