how many times can u use clomid

i used clomid the first time and got pregnant on the 6th cycle. but then ended up having a misscarriage. i have been using it again and just finished the 6th cycle with no pregnancy. i was wondering if i waited ayear or more if i could try it again, since the first time it did work.

I was on clomid for five cycles. During this time we did three IUIs. After these cycles I saw a infertility doc and was told by him that clomid has a habit of thining the endometrium and so even if I was able to get pregnant while on it, the chances of me keeping the baby weren't good.

Personally I would move on to injectables after 3 or 4 cycles on clomid because of the lining thinning. Clomid is often prescribed not because it is optimal but because it is cheap and easy.

I think most clinics generally go by 3 cycles. Three cycles Clomid, no IUI....three cycles Clomid with IUI...three cycles injects with or without IUI. I wouls ask to move on to IUI or injectables.

My experience has been 3-5 cycles on CLomid. PErsonally, my RE offers IU and HCG from the 1st Clomid cycle so she generally does 3 Clomids before moving on to injectibles.
